Optimizing Gaming

Hi- I built this system last fall,but made a few upgrades.I replaced my GTS 250 for GTX 460 and upgraded the monitor.Here are the specs.

I also run a dual boot for using xp 32 bit and windows 7 64 bit.I took (1) of the 750G HDD and partitioned it into 3 drives.40gigs/80gigs,and the remainder 580gigs for storage.I use the 40gig for xp,the 80gig for 7,and the remainder 580gigs for storage.I have 2 other hard drives.A 750gig,and a 320gig.I partitioned the 320 gig drive into 3 drives.5gigs/5gigs,and remainder storage.I use the smaller partitions for a page file.One if I'm using xp,or the other when using windows 7.The other 750 gig drive is partitioned for games and storage.I also made another 2mb page file for memory dumps on my main drive.


I game on 1920x1080 resolution,and everything seems to run smooth.I get an average of 60fps on the most demanding games that I played so far,but I am wondering if maxing out my settings is hurting performance.I'm not sure.

I need tips to get the most performance based on my specs,

Which specific drives do you have? I believe that you would be better suited by placing your XP partition on one 750GB drive, your Win7 partition on the other 750GB drive, and using your 320GB drive for page files.

I'm somewhat confused by your "question." If you want better performance at gaming, you're currently limited by your GTX 460. Simply put, it's not the best choice for single-card gaming at a 1920x1080 resolution. With your board, however, your limited by going with either one high-end card (like the HD 6950 or GTX 570) or two AMD/ATI cards (like the 6850) for CrossFire.
