Nice overclock.

For those of you who are getting horny from this OC, you really need to get out more and find yourself a nice lady! :D
I CANT TELL YOU HOW HORNY I AM RIGHT NOW!!! seriously though, youre right ;)

i've hit 2.8 on my X2 3800+

Same here, except it's not Prime 95 stable. Even at 1.55 vcore. Core 0 craps out, but core 1
keeps plugging along. I can run 2.7 at 1.5 (24/7, Prime stable), but I decided to use 2.6 at 1.375 for everyday use.

Ok i tried 2.85ghz it booted into windows, and ran some benchmark perfectly. But then i tried PCMARK05 and when it came to encoding or decoding it stuck (freezed). Same thing happened again and again, then i tried to decode HDTV to DVD and it freezed again, every thing else runs fine except when you try to do encoding or decoding. What could be the problem?

OK, sorry for the delay. Someone asked for a screen shot of my Opetron 165 running at 2.9 Ghz. Well here it is:

cleo-screen.JPG

It ran 1.56v for 62 hrs, then crashed. So I have slightly upped the volatge to 1.58. Unfortunately we had bad storms in Atlanta yesterday morning that took all my systems down, and the Internat just came back last night. So only at this volatge 18hrs so far (but over a week previously).

By the way, it was running dual instances of FAH when I took this shot.

The other thing that slowed me down is I am in the process of making a special screen background of my cat's butt for a certain cat hating ear cleaning moderator. I decided to just go ahead and post this.

Got mine from Dave Graham, whom is currently banned for some unspeakable reason. You can reach him at flickerdown dot com.

@ annaconda = nice overclock! if only i had slightly better cooling, i could catch up to you .....

(9*306) 2.75ghz @ 1.375vcore (in BIOS, actual voltage in above pic)

DDR430 (2*215) @ 3.2v @ 2-3-2-5

used 7/10 mem/fsb divider

stable as a rock

i got mine from dave graham too.....

It is not the cooling try to up your VCore to 1.45.

You are using clockgen, i was thinking you got upto 2.9ghz with out any software's help. But nice Overclock any way, i know i can do 3GHZ with ClockGen too, but i think it does not worth to fry the CPU.

So the chips seem to have the same old trade off the AthlonXP's had. The higher the MEMORY bus the lower the actual CPU CORE speed.

My XP 2600+ would do 200Mhz x13 like falling off a log @ 1.70V but would barely do 260Mhz x10 @ 1.85V and wasn't prime stable.

So the folks getting 2.8-2.9 on these 165's are doing it with lower MEMORY bus speeds.

I'm running 2.75Mhz @ 1.502V... 305HTT x9 with 166/200 divider for 249.9Mhz 8,2,2.0 memory bus. and I can't get much higher at all, regardless of voltage, Ive tried all the way to 1.650V.

Can't tell if this is a motherboard issue (DFI NF4 SLI-DR) or the chip itself... 0551 datecore 165.

Thoughts? Can those getting high core speed at low memory speed test with faster memory to see if top core speed falls off?

I have not tried to boot at speed (I boot at ~2600), but only because I hate the hassle of clearing the CMOS if things go bad. I think it would likely post and run at 2900, since I can get it to run at 3GHz for extented periods of time (an hour or so) .

The memory speed is low only because I have been trying to tune in the CPU speed first. I have run the memory stable as high as 240 (not the greatest memory), but I do not think running the memory slow has much to do with getting high CPU speeds on the Opterons.

When I was still running on air, my max CPU speed was about 2.6GHz (I Iimited the voltage to 1.39v as I was hitting the low 50's on temp) . It would run about the same regardless of memory speed (150 to 225).

By the way, why do you think you will fry your chip using Clockgen (I want to know if its true...I have no desire to fry this pup).

Regards...

What BIOS setting you are using, motherboard, cooling ?

Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe Motherboard Bios settings:

333 FSB/HTT x 9
1.50V setting on BIOS for VCORE
2.80V setting on BIOS for VDIMM
HTT Voltage bump
3X HT Multiplier
133 Mem Divider @ 2.5-3-4-7

Cooling:
Thermaltake Big Typhoon w/ Panaflo Panaflo FBA12G12M and AS5

worst thing that'll happen is you get unstable, corrupt something on the hd or randomly reboot. voltage and temps kill. not pure mhz.

What memory are you using? Is it PC3200 or PC4000? so looks like lower the mem divider more down to 133, will yeild more FSB.
