Hello, I need to buy a new PC for my father, who is an accountant. He seems to 'trust' Dell, if only because they advertise the most in our area. Anyways, I noticed the 40% off deals going on right now for desktop pcs and wanted to know if I picked a good deal. Here are the specs:

Dell Dimension E310 - P4
Intel Pentium 4 Processor 521 w/ HT Technology 2.8Ghz, 800FSB
1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz - 2DIMMs
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900
80GB SATA Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
48x CD-RW / DVD-ROM Combo Drive
Integrated 2.0 Channel High Definition Audio
Genuine Windows XP Professional
19 inch E196FP Analog Flat Panel

TOTAL PRICE: $634.80 ($1058.00 - $423.20 instant 40% rebate)

Thanks,
Joel

looks pretty nice if he is on a budget and set on dell. i just ordered one of those $349 ($400 shipped) machines with a celeron processor and the free 19" to use as a server for my house. (i mostly just wanted the 19" LCD, but for the price i got the computer as a cheap bonus)

Yeah, he wants a good deal, and he likes Dell. Plus, shipping is included.
That celeron sounds nice too, but he probably wants something a little more powerful.
BTW, thanks for the input.

Check the Dell outlet for Dimension 4700 (or maybe 8400). You can usually find 4700's with 3.0 - 3.2 GHz CPU, 160 GB HD, 512 MB - 1 GB RAM, and CD/DVD burner for $300 to $400. Some are refurbished, some are scratch and dent, and some are computers that were ordered new and returned/refused without ever being used.

I just looked at what's on Dell's outlet tonight: Not much in the way of 4700's..... There's a "scratch and dent" 8400 that looks like a pretty decent deal. 3.0 GHz CPU, 80 GB HD, 1 GB RAM, CD/RW, for $419.

Pretty good setup for that kind of price. Good choices.

As somebody has already suggested, Dell outlet has some very good bargains for xps 400's. If you look hard enough you can find "scratch and dent" systems in the $450 to $550 range. Which is a very good bargain considering you get a dual core 820 and a mother board with pci express. The video cared is only a Radeon X300 SE. But you can upgrade to a better one with all the money you saved.

^ In the pull down menu click on xps 400 and then click submit to see xps 400 deals.

That is worth 1k? hahahahahahahahahahaha

Edit: I just looked all those parts up on Newegg, about 75 bucks more than dell, but let me assure you that it is not, in any way, shape or form, worth 1k..... hahahahahaahahhahahahahahaha

Yeah, I know its not worth $1000.00; I wouldn't dream of buying this pc if it didn't come with a 40 % DISCOUNT!

Anyway, the deals over and he didn't buy - he was too busy during tax season. (Sucks for me too - I was gonna get the monitor) Thanks for the input anyways.

Joel
