This is my first post so I would like to say hello [H]ard OCP.

I recently shopped for some new hardware and I ended up buying the AMD 1090T @ 3.875 Ghz / 3Ghz CPU-NB w/ a FSB of 250 (thanks to a Bios upgrade limiting the CPU-NB to a multiplier of 12x), an MSI 890FX GD70 with Kingston 1600Mhz CL9 RAM @ 1333 Mhz 7-7-7-24 and a 300GB Velociraptor drive for $730 while I could have gone with the I7 2600K setup for about about $40 bucks less minus having the velociraptor hard drive, but after some research the 890FX boards are going to support AM3+, what I'm asking is, did I make the right decision?

The reason I ask this is because I know there's a stark difference between the i7-2600k and 1090T performance wise. The i7 2600K is probably the best performing CPU on the market, but.. was the decision to go with AMD with the ability to upgrade to Bulldozer at a later time worth bypassing going with Sandy Bridge? I need some opinions from those who have a Sandy Bridge based setup. Thanks in advance. :)
 
Without a clear picture (yet) as to what Bulldozer is capable of, we can't really tell you whether or not you made a good decision. With what we (as a collective unit) know about Sandy Bridge thus far, many of us would have recommended the Intel Core i7 2600k system over the AMD X6 1090T setup you bought earlier.

However, I personally don't like to make after-the-fact assessments, so my question to you is: Are you willing to live with your decision?
 
I have to concur with tiraides: Due to the FACT that no one outstide of AMD truly knows just how fast the Bulldozer CPUs are over the current Sandy Bridge CPUs, we really can't say whether or not Bulldozer is worth sacrificing good price to performance ratio for right now.

Tiraides pretty much got it: Are you willing to live with your decision?
 
Honestly I have no regrets, that question was more of a could of/should of/would of type scenario. Thanks for the replies. :)
