uncheck "reuse existing page".
Then, set the "new pages" drowdown to how you like.
Also, tools -> preferences -> advanced -> content -> 'javascript options' will allow you to control whether popups can be sized or not and also what else they can do.
The "reuse existing page" setting being checked is something silly that we have been trying to get them to change, but they do it because "reuse page" is the default value in IE.
Just remember, the great thing about Opera is that unlike Firefox, each page in Opera can be minimized, maximized/restored *inside* the main window. Also, all the pages in the main window can be tiled or cascaded. If you didn't know you could do that, goto tools -> preferences -> general and uncheck "show close button on each tab" and make sure that "open pages in tabs" is checked.
In Firefox, the size of the tabbed window is determined by the size of the main window. In Opera, tabbed windows are sized independently and only limited by the size of the main window. Also, in Opera, if you don't have the main window full size, you can drag a tab off the main window and it will detach itself and become its own window.
