I would definitely not say 99% the way there. StarVR is using high end expensive custom RGB OLED panels. Pimax Is inferior in basically every way.

But it does have a higher pixel count per eye. Yet even then the Pimax 5K is being preferred in picture quality over the Pimax 8K...

Pimax 8K is using some shit Pentile'eque LCD panel that looks worse than the RGB 5K+ LCD. That is why everyone is switching to the 5K+. The StarVR has OLED RGB panels, so superior on both fronts.
