One Undersea Cable Cut Explained

It's quite simple really:

Someone on the internet pissed off Chuck Norris. Even an e-mailed roundhouse kick cannot be contained.

The second article is yet another article with odd assertions and conclusions. People love this kind of stuff.

Anyway: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_dollar

"
The dollar is the most important international reserve currency, followed by the euro. The euro inherited this status from the German mark, and since its introduction, has increased its standing considerably, mostly at the expense of the dollar. Despite the dollar's recent losses to the euro, it is still by far the major international reserve currency, with an accumulation more than double that of the euro.

In August 2007, two scholars affiliated with the government of the People's Republic of China threatened to sell its substantial reserves in American dollars in response to pressure that they exercise fair trade.[20] The Chinese government denied that selling dollar-denominated assets would be an official policy in the foreseeable future.

Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan said in September 2007 that the euro could replace the U.S. dollar as the world's primary reserve currency. It is "absolutely conceivable that the euro will replace the dollar as reserve currency, or will be traded as an equally important reserve currency."[21]"

World economies and finance in action. Everyone gets to play and the US dollar is just one of the accepted currencies. People come up with wild ideas.

That second link article still bugs me, so, read up on Reserve Currency. Keep in mind that a lot of this stuff is theory, and the author of article in link two is making assertions based off of theory. It sounds like a good 24 episode to me :)

Now, here is some good reading on reserve currency:

lol, it's so funny how many of these tools come out of the cracks of society and blog all these conspiracy theories. They are worse and more inaccurate than the media. :p I swear, they just google random events, then loosely link them all up together in the most obscure way they can to make themselves look credible.

OH_MY_GOD liek yesterday the dow went down 400 points and I was on my way to the store to stockpile up on bottled water and my car got hit! It had to be a us gov't agent that hit me preventing me from going to get water! IT'S A CONSPIRACY!?! George Bush did it! Cheney, conspiracy, zionism, neo-con, illuminati, israel, planned attack, tin foil, big words and catch phrases!?!?

B/c W1iretap is a gov't agent, trying to fool us in to not believing the CORRECT conspiracy theories! OMG!

IF these 5 "cuts" aren't just a very strange coincidence, my theories are:
1. Al Queda - aiming as usual to revert the world back to 500 B.C., where men stoned women who didn't listen (which while sounds nice, ;) isnt right). Also, internet = ecommerce, information, etc.. so its a target

2. Some gov't agency (not necessarily the U.S.) - looking to destabilize Iran (and/or its financial markets) and cost it money.

I don't think so. I can't imagine Al Q severing Internet cables that they likely rely on.

However, I'm not going to deny the 500 BC theory. They obviously haven't stepped out of The Cave yet.

While it is obvious that the United States has the capability, it is bind-sided to think the it is the only country. If you were to "cut your teeth" on an underwater exercise, wouldn't breaking something be the easiest task? Maybe I am just playing devil's advocate here, but I see little US Military interest in cutting those cables at this point as referenced on the first link:

But, I do see a reason for IRAN to cut then and blame it on the US and Israel. Like Al-Quaeda, they too want to regress their population to the middle ages. Oh, and Iran does have submarines as well, diesel for sure, but fully capable of this.

"Connecting the dots" blindly assumes that "fight the net" stands on it's own. As if the entire Internet was the enemy. I've also got to add that the Pentagons' job is to be warmongering. They have to assume that everyone is an enemy so that they are prepared for when someone actually is. The Pentagon is not the leadership of the US, just the military. I swear, why do so many criticize the military for doing their job?

After reading the first link, and seeing many speak about the second as worse than the first, it isn't worth my time to go any further. Besides, we're kinda getting off topic.

Losing the cables cuts communication, forcing the locals to rely on Al-Jaseera. Maybe Al-Jaseera did it. :D

Maybe the guys who installed the cables the first time need some serious cash so they decided to re-do a job that was a cash crop...

Saboteurs may have cut Mideast telecom cables: UN agency

Damage to several undersea telecom cables that caused outages across the Middle East and Asia could have been an act of sabotage, the International Telecommunication Union said on Monday.
"We do not want to preempt the results of ongoing investigations, but we do not rule out that a deliberate act of sabotage caused the damage to the undersea cables over two weeks ago," the UN agency's head of development, Sami al-Murshed, told AFP.

Five undersea cables were damaged in late January and early February leading to disruption to Internet and telephone services in parts of the Middle East and south Asia.

There has been speculation that the sheer number of cables being cut over such a short period was too much of a coincidence and that sabotage must have been involved.

India's Flag telecom revealed on February 7 that the cut to the Falcon cable between the United Arab Emirates and Oman was caused by a ship's anchor. But mystery shrouds what caused another four reported cuts.

"Some experts doubt the prevailing view that the cables were cut by accident, especially as the cables lie at great depths under the sea and are not passed over by ships," Murshed said on the sidelines of a conference on cyber-crime held in Gulf state of Qatar.

The Falcon cable has since been repaired, along with the Flag Europe Asia (FEA) cable which was damaged off Egypt's Mediterranean coast. The status of the remaining cable is still unclear.
