i have 3 ultra160 quantum 37gb 7,200 rpm drives, and an adaptec controller, but it looks to be for a pci-x server slot, it works in a regular pci slot, but what i am wanting to know is the drive performance they should have, i hooked them up in a current setup, but i get the same speed in regular single drive mode, as in raid 0, is it limited by the pci bus? and is there any performance gain of raid 0 at all then?

it seems to get about 25 MB's a sec from sandra, but the random reads writes are almost double of that at around 45 MB's

just wondering if my 160gb sata maxtor is alot faster
 
Yes, your Maxtor should be faster. And RAID-0 will act like RAID-0 on any drives: faster sequential performance, lower random performance.

Old SCSI drives are good in old computers. That's about it.
 
or good for selling on e-bay :D

You could get about $30-40 a piece for those drives and get a nice 300gb SATA drive instead. Faster and more storage!
