Old P4, no display?

I can't tell if this is video card related or not. I fire up the box, screen wakes, but nothing ever displays. HDD activity light and CPU activity light are blinking like crazy, sounds like its booting up, but nothing ever displays.

Sound like video card? I wasn't sure since the screen wakes. I guess it could be the screen too? I don't have another to test with though..
 
Agreed. I can't see BIOS to check the config. Regardless, its as 12+ year old box. I'm sure BIOS is the same as I left it.

I remembered one of my HDTV's has a DVI.. so i tested it on the TV. Works fine via DVI.

So one of two things. #1: Bad LCD screen, or #2: Bad VGA port on my video card (or on the LCD).

I'll switch to DVI port with old LCD to see if makes a difference. If it still doesnt work, then its the screen and thats an easy fix. I can round up an extra screen pretty quickly. I dont want to spend too much money on this box, i just use it for file storage/multimedia.

Follow the steps in the stickied "Basic Troubleshooting Guide" on what to do when the PC does not POST. Come back when you've followed all those steps.

Problem already discovered and remedied. No one said anything about POST.
 
I'd venture to say it's a bad cable and/or some bent pins in the VGA cable. Check it thoroughly for damage. Also try a different cable if possible, much cheaper than a used/new AGP video card; could probably borrow one from someone, if you lived close I'd let you borrow the one I use for my "test bench" setup.
 
Looks like either bad cable or bad VGA port on the video card or on the screen.

I tested with a DVI cable and its working perfectly.
