Hello everyone, new here.

I have been in the land of shinny metal partially eaten fruits for the last few years, and decided that I missed some good ol pc' gaming, as well as building my own computers, so here I go again.

I have an older Wavemaster case

outside of not the best cooling in the world, is there a reason why this wouldn't work with a whole new setup? I've been away from PCs for a bit and just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

Likely buying new Motherboard / CPU / Memory / Vidcard and Power supply for the new setup, but hoping to keep whatever else doesn't need upgrading.

It seems to me that 80mm fans are out of style nowday, so depending on if you want an aftermarket cpu cooler you may need to get a case with 120mm+ fan slots.
 
i stillrock my WaveMaster....just last week had an EVGA 680i board with an OCZ 120mm fanned cooler in it without problem, its tight, but cable arrangement worked to clean/neaten things up.
 
Definitely get a modular PSU to help with wiring. Also consider modding in a 120mm Blowhole or side hole for an extra exhaust/intake.
I feel that heat-buildup is going to be fairly high with only single 80mm fan and PSU exhaust fan for case exhaust.

The wavemaster can have 2 80mm in front, one 80 in top, one 80 in back plus psu fan. I ran that case for about 2 years with no problems running 2 and 3 nvidia cards ranging from7800gtx, 8800 gts and gtx 260's. If you wanted to you could mod the top to hold a 120 with not much a problem.

I go back and forth with jsut getting a new case, but I am very picky with the style with them. Going back I did realize that heat buildup -was- an issue with it (hadn't used it for a while, but remember now having to occasionally open the side because it sounded like a 747 was about to land on my desk. Based on that I might look at some alternatives, or get a bit better cooling. Don't think I had that top fan set up, but will look into that.
