Oh Damned, Scott Herkelman is leaving AMD

I'm not sure if this is a good news or bad news for AMD.
What I mostly remembered about him is "jebaited"...

People move on from job to job. It's part of the normal way of things. In my industry people rarely stay in the same position more than 2-3 years.

Honestly, I don't think it will be either good or bad for AMD. He has done some good things for the company, but no one is irreplaceable. If he hadn't been there to do them, someone else would have been.

A bad manager can really screw up a company, but as long as a manager is reasonably competent is replaced by another reasonably competent manager it's six of one, half a dozen of the other.

The "rock star" employee myth needs to die. There is no such thing. Absolutely everyone is replaceable. Yes, even Jim Keller or Steve Jobs. In fact, the more name recognition they have the more baggage they usually come with, which often just isn't worth putting up with for a company.

No one is special. Not even you :p
