Official Crysis 2 Thread

Lol took me a minute to figure out what you meant, had to go check front page to see what Kyle wrote and linked it to this thread, but that was awesome.

Thank god someone still gets it.

I am glad to see someone in the media speak out about this bullshit. This is why I will continue to come to HardOCP for all my tech news. As for the game I spent about 3 hrs trying to get it running last night and hadto turn crossfire off to play it at lower settings, I am done with Crytek. Now I can look forward to Red Orchestra 2 a real PC game.

Laughing at the front page rant.

Can we expect to see Crysis 2 used in benchmarks? ;) Will it stress today's hardware!?

wait...this is a video game we are talking about right? for a second it sounded like someone all bent out of shape....

Alienate PC Gamers...
Make mad $$$ on the console versions...

Can you blame them?

When was Crytek ever about innovative gameplay? All they've released, to my knowledge, are a couple of benchmarks.

No sandbox editor at release either so it will be a while if ever before custom maps come around. One rumor is that it will come this summer, but there's also rumors that it won't be a mod friendly sandbox editor but instead only the SDK. Considering that all the rumors so far have been true, that doesn't sound good.

depends on if they even updated the map making for the engine. if its still the same old map making that existed in crysis 1/wars then its the same map making process that was used in MechWarrior 4. the crysis 1 map making process is a total piece of garbage.

seeing as how this is crytek we are talking about. odds are it will still be the same map making software.

That remains to be seen.

I'll make anyone a gentleman's bet right now this sells like hotcakes at least on the consoles.

I bet it'll sell well on the PC as well. Call of Duty Black Ops was Satan itself with some folks and it sold well on all platforms. I'm betting this thing will do just fine.

My opinion: It's good. Not great. Good, as in: Yeah, I've played better. Yeah, I can harp on something consolitis things I wish Crytek had not done and/or I wish they'd taken some extra time on the PC version. Absolutely.

But some of you are making this thing sound like it's a 2/10 or a 3/10 product and I just couldn't disagree more.

I'd give it an 8/10 at most at present and I really do wonder how many of you bitching now we're right there on Crysis 1's ass when it made your hardware weep and forced you to upgrade (I thought we liked games that did this) and it was "poorly optimized and coded." My head is still spinning with how often I saw that phrase right here on these forums and not too terribly long ago, either.

Well, some people got what you wanted at that rate, right?

Totally agree with Kyle on this one. I'm probably the biggest fan there was of Crysis and Crysis:Warhead but the graphics and corridor style gameplay in this one let me down so much I just about want to cry.

The corridor gameplay is definitely my biggest complaint. I definitely feel like I'm more on rails in this thing to be sure.

Front page post linking to this thread, my reaction:  Holy cow!
Sounds like I will want to wait for this game to appear in the $5 sale....or never. Most likely never.

I'm on the same boat, but it will take a while. Look on the bright side, we aren't missing much.

I'm not pre-ordering another game as long as I live. All these games feel rushed and console ported with dumbed down graphics. Homefront doesn't even have eyefinity support.... are u kidding me ? Our only savior is BF3 .... if that fails we are all doomed !

I certainly respect Kyle and the gang's opinions and work and what this makes me want to do is something I haven't done in a long time: I'm going to reinstall Crysis, max it out, run it, and really do a side by side for myself for grins. I wouldn't mind some of those Crysis 1 graphic mods either if people could point me in the right direction.

Gosh, it's been at least a year, probably longer, since I've even look at that game. I want to see this...

Kyle, your commentary is spot on with me. They sold out and they pretty much made their own grave now when it comes to the PC community.

Yep, stopped a long time ago pre-ordering. I also won't buy it until I play a demo.

I have not bought a game in a couple years. Last one I bought was Dawn of Discovery and I still play it.

Kyle's front page made my blow milk out my nose again.......starting to sound like Charlie Sheen..........

Kyle : "winning"
Crytek: "losing"

I was waiting to hear what you all thought before I bought the game.....looks like I'll sit back and wait until it goes on sale.

This will probably do well on the 360 and sell like ass on the PC......and Crytek can't use the pirate argument this time.

Console "gaming" is starting to really screw up the PC platform. maybe I should just start playing WoW.

Rofl....I pissed myself laughing! Best front page [H] news post ever!!

The face of the site featuring a profanity laced rant that's the next best thing to an outright troll isn't the best news post ever, it's a sign of how far downhill things have gone.

Bonus points for turning the thread into a shitfest.

A lot of us could stand to preorder a lot less. That's a lesson I myself am overdue to take a lot more seriously. ;)

so those who have it...it is just like the demo? :( I'll wait till steam's next christmas sale then

Wouldn't have minded seeing something a little less along those lines but these guys are gamers first and if they're pissed and there's some passion behind it at least it's honest.

When the dust and the passion settle down a little bit and maybe some of these so called patches ever show up it'll be interesting to see the topic get revisited at least once more.

1. the game is a 2/10..

2. crysis 1 was horribly optimized and coded. trust me i know, i've worked with the SDK. its effing garbage. it looks like it was put together by a 5 year old. i mean seriously for the love of god what retard came up with the idea of putting data points for every smoke trail, every spark, every piece of debris, every bullet in the multiplier? i mean seriously, crytek couldn't figure out a way to do all this shit client side? they actually had to sit there and have the client transfer the data to the server then have the server transfer it to all the other clients connect? this is grade school shit when it comes to multiplayer coding. now yes i'll give it to them that they actually fixed it in crysis wars only to trump that by neutering the graphics to shut up every 15 year old trying to play the game on some OEM built dell that mommy and daddy bought them.

so no honestly crytek could burn in a pool of fire and i wouldn't care at all. they should stick to developing single player engines and selling the licensing to it and stay away from actual game development.

its crytek, they will release 2 patches, tell AMD and Nvidia to fix everything else. then announce a expansion pack for crysis 2 and put a 60 dollar price tag on it. welcome to the new activision..

That's interesting. I figured Bulletstorm was going to do well on the consoles at least but it's a one trick pony whose novelty wears off fast.
The novelty wore off within 10 seconds for me. The problem with this game is that they pushed the "bro speech" way too far, I for one, would get pretty tired of people screaming "DICK-TITS!!!" pretty fast, basically the moment it left their lips. I understand that that was the point of it all, but it was a point that most people don't enjoy. There is a reason why many, including myself, just mute everyone when they play online.

I'm on the same boat, but it will take a while. Look on the bright side, we aren't missing much.
Haha, that is for sure :) At this point in my life, I am so busy, I can't play every game I want to anyway, but I'll feel less guilty about not finishing a game if I only spent "$2.99" on it :)

1. the game is a 2/10..

Pretty tough. In 30 years I've played some pretty abominable trash that I'd give a score like that, too. I have a hard time putting this game, lumps and all, down that low. YMMV obviously. :)

I'll take your word for it so I don't have the background or credentials to say with authority either way on the subject.

I don't disagree with this.

I play mostly single player anyways unless it's a BF game or some such where I can be with some people I know and the rest. 5 minutes with the demo was enough for me.

Well honestly I really don't know what cool-aid some of you were drinking here. To me the minute I found out, like 2 years ago C2 was going to be multiplatform, I knew they weren't going to push the boundries hard. There's simply no way they were going to take the verbal pounding they got from pc gamers regarding how the game was running like shit for even high end systems of the time. Second they wanted in on the console money. Did you really think you would get a boundry pushing high end PC kick ass exclusive game and still have it scale down to consoles? It hasn't been done yet and to my knowledge this is the closest anyone has come. This game arguably is the best looking console game to date, so they achieved their goal on the consoles. As far as PC, it looks good. No, not zomg this is light years better than C1/Wh but in all honesty it looks as good at times and other times better. It does feel alot smoother even when the same fps is being displayed in both games.

I liked the more open sand box feeling you get from the first 2 games don't get me wrong but that doesn't make this game suck or bad imo. This is fun in a different way compared to the first 2 and it does what it does pretty well and looks good doing it imo. Honestly I wish Crysis was still PC exclusive too but that's not the reality. The reality is Crytek is a business and as such they want as much money as possible. They aren't in business to make PC gamers cream their pants. They are in business to sell as many copies as possible and they will probably sell more copies of C2 then ever before.

The gamer in me likes this game and I like the overall feel of the game. The PC enthusist in me wishes it was a more PC centric, more open ended and more of a boundry pushing exclusive game but that's not the reality. What we have is a fun game if your a gamer first. If your not a gamer first your gonna probably be disappointed. That's the bottom line.

I would not say it's an 8/10 by any means, there are too many problems with a high profile game like this to give it that high of a score. I would say it's a 6/10 at best. I wish there was a SS button so I could take some SS's of the garbage I've seen.

Jumped in the water, see floating garbage.. taking a closer look the "garbage" is the same layout as stuff that's on the tables during the rooftop mission.. oh and you can't move it. See hot dogs on the grill (in the bun) want to knock it over, can't do anything to it. Walk up to a window to see reflection, nope it's a chromed up version of something that's not even in the alley I'm in. Helicopter in the sky just vanishes and a new one appears on the other side of the building. Textures numbed down for consoles.. sorry but it's exactly as Kyle said. I'm glad he has the balls to say it too, I'd give him a high-five if I knew him irl.
