The gamma shift is most obvious on dark colors, but on lighter colors it is not. Here is a photo. Disregard the left side, as that is glare. Look from middle to right to see a slightly amplified version of this, as cameras amplify this effect and HardForums shows it at its worst. This is an FP241VW by the way. Almost exactly same panel and gamma shift as FP241W (just a different stand):
