Official 8.11 Catalyst

Installed, no major improvements for the games I'm currently playing, which are The Witcher and HL2: episode 2 with Cinematic mod. The latter actually seems to dip in FPS a bit more than the 8.10s.
 
Drivers wont' install on my machine. WinXP Pro SP3 and an Asus AH3650 AGP.
Actually, no other drivers besides the ones that came on the included CD work with this card. :(
 
the far cry 2 dx10 skipping problem still isn't fixed it seems. anyone else still having this problem?
 
Umm I can get to the download page but when I click the download button it brings up a 403 Access denied message.

The AMD/ATI download site has been doing that same thing to me recently. I've had to resort to using IE 7 to download anything from them. Try just going to ati.com and using the normal download method first though; the page linked in this thread didn't work for me either.
 
curiosity question.....

will this show if both gpu's are being enabled on a 4870x2 since i dont have any specific xfire settings in CCC

when in game bring up the console by pressing ~. Then type gfx_maxfps 30

this made it super smooth for me. you can try 40 instead of 30 but it made no difference for me. there is a problem with ATI cards because of something to do with converting dx 10.1 to 10.0.

Yeah I figured as much. Looks like it's something Valve will have to fix. It's quite annoying, my game crashed over five times today :(

I installed these drivers, didn't see any improvement at all. Still all those issues I experienced with 8.10.

Far Cry still has that texture corruption issue, don't know if its the drivers or game, I even updated the game, still persisting. And I don't think I see any performance increase.

And whenever an application runs in a lower resolution my HDTV would enlarge the display and I have to use my remote to readjust the screen size again, never had this issue before I installed the Far Cry 2 hotfix.
 
This fixed my problem with not getting video playback from Blu-ray discs in WinDVD9 Plus under Vista 64 on my 4870X2.
 
.. however it appears that DX10 is messed up even worse than before. Far Cry 2 in DX10 mode won't even get past the first logo... it literally runs about one frame per second.

Funny how after upgrading to Vista, buying all the right hardware, and trying about a half dozen Games For Windows titles I've never been able to play a game in DX10 without something going horribly wrong (usually rock bottom FPS or display goes to 1080i).

That's the way it always is.

My 8.11 install wasn't perfect but I understand what happened.

I was on the 8.6 Hotfix up until yesterday. I just never bothered to update my drivers because I had no issues. So I figured it was about time especially with L4D in my future. ;)

Uninstall -> Reboot -> Install -> Reboot

Install went OK but couldn't get the Manual Fan Control or the old Fan Speed profile trick to work. Found out that what happened was my old profile for some reason kind of conflicted with the system when trying to build a new profile or activate the old one. Didn't find that out until after I did this though:

Uninstalled -> Reboot to Safe Mode -> Driver Sweeper -> Reboot -> Install -> Reboot

Driver Sweeper removed the old profiles so I had no conflict the second install. If I had reset everything to Default in the CCC I probably could have avoided using Driver Sweeper but whatever. Wasn't something I expected so live and learn. :)

8.11 is pretty solid for me. Everything appears stable except for L4D Demo which crashes like it does for everybody else meaning it's Valve. :)

Nope, it doesnt show...i tired but the option is not available...guess it only works with 2 physical graphics cards...

You are correct. This was a big question over at Rage3D yesterday so a few of the Beta Testers are inquiring to ATI about it...

Common consensus from what I read was that because the X2 boards don't technically require you to enable Crossfire or not you don't get the option.

Well a counter showing the GPU usage from each would be more useful. Even if the CFX logo is there you have no idea how much scaling there actually is. Currently the only way I have to monitoring usage on my X2 is to open two GPU-Z on my 2nd screen as riva tuner doesn't read from both at the same time. The GPU% from Riva is only from one GPU.
 
that sucks.... is there anyway i can tell how much of each core is being used on my x2? would riva tuner let me see both core usage %

I run two instances of GPU-Z and select the second GPU with the second instance.
 
I can't open the Catalyst Centre, I get an error message. And the installation went fine, no other problems.
 
Farcry 2 still has micro stutter for me with these in DX10 mode. DX9 mode with all settings max works fine.
 
What method are you guys using when upgrading drivers? The last time I tried updating my drivers, after uninstalling, then running driver cleaner, when trying to install the new ones (running the exe), kept getting "ati catalyst install manager has stopped working" error!!

Read loads of threads, took me about 4 hours to find a solution which forced the new drivers to install from the command line which eventually worked. Even now, I can't run any driver exe's - I still get the error.

At the moment I am on 8.10 and for the best part my L4D runs fine (and smooth) @ full graphics - so I think I might just stick to them for now. Still get the odd infrequent atimkdag.sys bsod. Something I noticed upgrading from previous drivers (8.9) was that before, when the error happened the system would continually try to recover (black screen, then display etc). With the 8.10 - it tries 4 or 5 times (sometimes less) then straight to BSOD then automatic reboot.

With 8.11 it drops to 50-60 most part for some reason....

I uninstall with control panel, then boot into safe mode run driver sweeper. Boot into windows and install the new drivers. This is the way I have been doing it with ATI and Nvidia for years.

If I had your problem I would uninstall in control panel, boot into safe mode and run driver sweeper then run CC Cleaner. Look for anything related to ATI and delete it. That should clean it 100% for sure of anything ATI related. That's what I would try if I were in your shoes short of re-installing windows.

Make sure that Force Vsync Off for all games is enabled in your CCC settings. It is possible that your previous settings got overwritten or corrupted when you upgraded drivers. If vsync is suddenly on in all your games, it would account for then drop to 50-60fps if you have an LCD monitor.

If all else fails, use the method described above where you uninstall the drivers, run drivercleaner to clear profiles, and then reload drivers.

Sounds like Crossfire isn't being enabled.
 
After installing 8.11 from 8.10, Anti Aliasing no longer shows up in anything. Its not even being applied to the video in the CCC when being forced.
 
Not that it means a shit of beans but I actually gained 200 points with these drivers on 3dmark06 over 8.10. With 8.9 I scored a 20,937. With 8.10 I lost about 100 points from this score. With 8.11 installed I scored a personal best of 21,041. Broke 21K for the first time. Again, this means jack shit but hey it's something right? :p Alrighty then, time to see if Fall Out 3 is still doing that weird AA shit. I'm crossing my fingers........

Means you got a clean install, barring no artifacts and other misc. stuff.
 
how do you enable hydravision? i dont see any option related to that in CCC.
