I'll start by listing off the specs.
EX58-UD5
i7 920 d0
Corsair 3x2GB
XFX 4890 XT
PcPnC(?) Silencer 750W
Win7 64 7100
I'll try to keep things short...
It seems AA isn't applying correctly in some places. Pictures are worth a thousand words so here are some examples.
pic1pic2
This is the AA issue. In pic1 you can clearly see the jaggedness of the wooden paneling to the upper left of where the horse shoe is. This happens with all wood paneling at a certain distance/angle, and it is quite annoying. pic2 is another example of some of the other AA issues I'm having, if you look to the left of the spy, there are strips of jagged pixels, which flicker whenever I move.
edge and shadowanother example of water edge problem
This is the water edge issue, with another odd issue with shadows. As you can clearly see there is a large strip of bright jaggies which flicker (become groups of bigger and smaller jags) when the viewing angle changes.
As well as the shadow of the bridge, is very bizarre looking. I'm not even sure how to describe this. It happens on quite a bit of different shadows, on different maps.
That sums it up for TF2.
I'm also experiencing other odd issues with other games. It's a drop in performance almost, in certain areas. Both in WoW and EVE, it's usually silk smooth, but certain areas cause me to drop to about 20-30fps. I noticed in EVE that it was when I was looking at a bright (HDR rendered I think?) cloud, and it would drop quite low there, to about <20-30fps. WoW only lags when I enable AAA in the driver settings, but if I turn it off, it looks like crap. My computer should be able to handle all of this, no? :S
Things I've tried.
I've tried installing on XP64, and Win7 64 7100, different times. I've tried tweaking driver settings. Nothing seems to fix these issues. I had the water edge and bridge shadow issues with a similar system using a 9800GX2, but I remember the 9800GX2 didn't cause (or to the extent the new system does) the AA issues with wood paneling and the edges of floors and walls.
I guess I'll answer specific questions after this... I'm most likely missing some information as I am quite tired lately but I'll supply it right away if needed.
