I'm looking at picking up a 30gb vertex ssd from newegg but I see 2 available versions with a $10 price difference. One is model "VTX" and the other is "VTXT.". Is there any differrence between these or a preference on which one to get?

The VTXT is the "Turbo" version. All it means is they overclocked the indilinx controller to improve performance. It's not a huge differences, overall - perhaps %5-10 faster performance.

Looks like I shouldve read a little more as it's simply a turbo version for the $10 difference.

Has anyone compared the 30gb with the 60gb version in terms of performance? With the current rebate on the 60 that might be the better choice...

I assume it's going to be the drive for your OS? I HIGHLY suggest going with a 60gb minimum.

With win 7 installed and common programs, updates and everything else, my 64gb drive is around 3/4 full. When new updates and service packs are released, you'll be glad that you went with the larger drive

You can trim Win7 down to under 10GB, but 30GB is still kinda cramped if you install any major apps or 1-2 games. If you want something under $120 Intel's 40GB X25-V is currently discounted $15 to $115. Sequential writes are kinda poor but random read/writes and sequential reads are still as good the X25-M. The 80GB X25-M is still nigh impossible to find for under $250 so the 60GB Vertex at $180 AR is a pretty good buy. If the X25-M was commonly available for MSRP it would've killed the 60GB Vertex by now (and/or forced more price drops), damn NAND flash shortages.
