I've been away from the PC scene for a few years in terms of building systems, etc. I'm potentially going to be building a new system, but I was always a fan of PC Power and Cooling supplies before they were bought by OCZ. My question is in terms of OCZ, are they reputable? I remember when there was a connection with the Overc+++++++ Store, there were at least some serious questions and allegations. Obviously things can change with new owners and management. Is this the case with OCZ?

No, they are still low-quality.

If you want a quality PSU, go with one of the following:

Antec (anything except Basiq line)
Corsair (everything)
Seasonic

But I will say, OCZ's other product lines are all excellent.

i'd have to agree, i have thier memory and it's fine. i had their 600w gamerxstream SLI PSU for 2.5 years and it died. went with an Antec TruPower 650W and haven't looked back.

RAM and SSD wise, OCZ is reputable.

PSU wise, OCZ has a reputation for low quality PSUs as defaultluser noted.

A tad off topic: PC P&C hasn't dropped in quality since they were bought out by OCZ but nor have they increased in quality. There are many PSUs out there that are just as good if not better than many PC P&C PSUs. In fact, it seems that a majority of PC P&C PSU models are no longer being sold. Though rumor has it that PC P&C is planning to do a launch of new PSU models. Then again this was about 3 months ago.

Anyway, back on track: Stay away from OCZ PSUs. Everything else, they're good. Though make sure that their RAM is rated at 1.65V MAX if you're going with a Core i3/i5/i7 setup.
