OCZ EvoStream

Doesn't OCZ know how to put out something under 500W? This 'EvoStream' only comes as 600W.

I know it's modular but I was expecting at least 80% efficiency like the GameXtreme.

The GXS doesn't hold up 80+ efficiency throughout rated wattage.

Too bad OCZ took a step back from a quieter, more effective 120mm fan to an 80mm fan. I definitely won't be replacing my ModStream with the EvoStream.

That is a very odd design decision..

Booo 80mm!!! I hope all case and PSUs only use 120mm fans and up in the next year or so.

I like PSUs that use 80mm fans. The NeoHE is a good example, it is a quiet thing considering what it has. 120mm fans take up more space, meaning less space for actual power supply.

I do wonder.

The EvoStream is bound to be noisier as it's based on a 3Y server unit. But as I look at a GameXstream, I wonder, "why not slap a modular interface on the back of that?"

I also like power supplies with 80mm's. Straight through, which is great for peopel who have cases like a P180, which actually works optimally with the NeoHE series. Straight through, normal sized supply, modular, and longish cables.

i'd buy one of the evostream's if they made them in say.. 400w?

I'd buy one if they made them in a 330W-380W flavor :D BTW, glad to see you back :)

Why are you always so much for NOT getting more power than you need, db?

I almost think that you'd spend more money on something that's less wattage. ;)

I know you've read that thing at SPCR about larger PSU's being less efficient, but you do realize that that's totally subjective, right?

I have asked the same question many times!
