California Governor Jerry Brown has declared October 16th as Steve Jobs Day as a memorial of his life and accomplishments. The holiday coincides with a memorial service to be held by Apple Inc. in an invitation only event on the campus of Stanford University.

This is a bit over the top. Holy shit. HE WAS A BUSINESS MAN! He did nothing to benefit mankind like the others we have memorial days for.

That's a little scary. I mean, OK he was important for computing history, but not that important. If anything Apple computers is known as a thief company, who takes ideas from other companies. Very little if anything was innovated at Apple, and even then very little of that was directly involved with him. Steve Jobs was known to coworkers as a hard ass.

Why are they giving him a holiday?
 
Even more scary some put him on equal to Newton or Einstein.

Don't try to made him saint. He wasn't saint, far from it. Time to understand that. No surprise that politicians are treated like utter imbeciles all around the world.

Why do we have a holiday for some guy who wandered into a foreign country, killed a bunch of Indians and took over their land?
 
What exactly did this guy do other than sell a bunch of overpriced trendy shit to deserve his own holiday?

If Jesus can get a holiday then so should Steve Jobs. Hell, Jobs should get two and they should both be gift giving holidays. :D

The same reason we celebrate an adulterer (MLK), a tyrant that destroyed the Constitution (Lincoln), and the goddess of fertility, Ishtar (Easter). We'll take any excuse to make a ridiculous holiday, like celebrating an asshole like Jobs.

Don't get me wrong, Steve Jobs did do a great job at what he did. But, that was his job. He was a salesman and CEO. Nothing special outside of that. He will be a part of history books, just as part of Apple history and the Microsoft vs. Apple history. Only for geeks, pretty much.
 
Why no Jonathan Ive day? from what i can tell mainly he designed most of the things apple fans love so much and seam think Steve Jobs designed/invented.

I guess it's as he is not dead and not that most people have no clue how many others created the devices they love so much and attribute almost purely to Steve Jobs.

But what do you expect after some of the laws he signed this year: taking college financial aid money from US citizens and giving to it illegal aliens, allowing the police to be able to search your cell phone without a warrant, and stopping cops from seizing the cars of unlicensed drivers just to name a few.

If you want to see what a 2nd Obama term will look like, just look at California.

Then you remembered that Republicans have been running California for the last 8 years. Sure Gray Davis was a Democrat, but then prior to him for four years... But then again before that it was another idiot Republican for 8 years.

Both of you are fucking idiots. There are no Democrats or Republicans. There are politicians, and then there are the morons that support them. You're delusional if you think either side would stand up for their "beliefs" if they could get $10 to look the other way. Neither side gives a fuck anymore, they got into office by accepting billions of dollars from interest groups, and the "core" beliefs of Democrats or Republicans means jack shit to them at this point.
 
Wow. Just Wow. People are acting link this guy actually did anything meaningful. Sure he was a good CEO and brilliant at marketing, but that's the only thing he really contributed to society; which isn't much.
