any way to oc this old rig? its "rig2" in my signature, theres no option thru the bios but would clockgen work on a old computer like this?

Get out the manual for the motherboard. It seems weird that an Asus board like that would not have some overclocking options. If there is nothing in the BIOS, there are probably some jumpers or dip switches on the motherboard that will allow you to change some things.
Also, don't expect a lot out of the 900. From what I have seen, they just didn't overclock very well. I should know, I had one.

i had a tbird 900 which got up to 1ghz at 1.825v
the point of it was that everyone wanted a chip that broke the 1000 barrier when they came out even though 900 is virtually as fast... but its a small overclock, not really worth it in speed terms if you cant do it in the bios so Just For Fun

I was able to get mine over 1.1 Ghz. I wanted 1.2 Ghz out of it though so I was a bit disappointed. I guess I didn't do too bad with it since I was able to get around a 25% overclock out of it. I did have to feed it 1.85 volts to do it though.
I can't remember what I did with the CPU, though. At one point I thought I had fried the CPU and bought a 1.2 (wanted a 1.33 but didn't have the money for it) but it turned out to be a problem with the motherboard. There wasn't anything actually wrong with the motherboard. It was weird, I put the 1.2 in and it wouldn't fire up. I ended up using the dip switches to manually set everything and then it worked. I tossed the 900 back in to see if it would work and it fired right back up. I immediatly pulled the 900 out and put the 1.2 back in. Who cares if it worked, I had a faster chip.

thunderbirds are quick cpus, too bad they never did clock too high, i wish i had one at like 2ghz or so :]
