Hello, as stated in the title, I have an issue OverClocking the AMD FX-8150, my issue is this, I can over clock it just fine to 4.515GHz stable w/ temps around 45C @ full load on al 8 cores, and all 8 cores running at 4.515GHz. no matter what I try and over clock to after that, I get weird results, like 2 cores running @ desired speed, while the other 6 run at 1404, sometimes i get 4 of the 8 cores running at the same speeds, while the other 4 are @ 1404. I've disabled the turbo Core but can't seen to narrow down what's wrong. Has anyone else ran in to this issue?

I have an Asus Crosshair V Formula

well the 8150 chips were never meant to be over clocked very high across all of its cores to begin with, even the OC benchmarkers had to disable most of the cores to get it to OC correctly. but even still you should be able to get at most 4.7 out that chip on all 8 cores, what is your cooling solution and what levels are the temps at?

BTW, when i said that it wasnt meant to have high OC on all cores i was referring to 5+ GHz, The record may be 8.249 GHz but they had to disable 6 cores to do so.

Well, ive been having issues getting it to keep a stable OC (the AMD OverDrive software's Stablity test stops anywhere beteen running 5-15min) I've gotten it to PC to 4.515 and last 2hours on the test 3 times.. the first two times temps @ full load temps staied between 43-48c, now the temps are hanging around 53C Im sure thats due to me disabling the power save features on it between the last time and this one.

Im running a BigWater 760 Plus from thermal take

your link dosent seem to work.
Here's my settings in my bios

almost forgot,
Bios 0903

What can I say, that bios and the settings I posted give me a solid 4916Mhz with all 8 cores that I use 24/7.

It doesn't seem like a bad chip....4.5GHz with all eight cores enabled sounds pretty good to me. Not all chips are made equal and great OC's are not guaranteed? If it's stable at the overclocked speed how can you call it a faulty chip? Hech, if its stable at stock speed/voltage and won't OC at all its still not considered a faulty chip????

I'm wondering if its faulty cause even at stock speeds I get BSOD's, lockups, and abnormal program terminations.

You never mentioned anything like that happening at stock speeds? I would contact AMD and see what they say...chances are you'll have to RMA it. You've changed/fiddled around with the Bios and OC so much now who knows. You might want to set bios defaults and reload the OS to see if that at least gets your stock speeds stable before contacting anybody.

I didn't know about these problems until i talked to a friend of mine who works down @ AMD in there bug fix area (not sure what the actual name of it is) when he suggested running @ stock and see what happens. I've sent the CPU back to NewEgg for a replacement, tho they're Out of stock so it may be a refund.
