nVidia working on G80

Not to kill all happiness in this thread. But what does the R520 have to do with the G80? The R520 will still use traditional Pixel and vertex shaders. It's yet ANOTHER extension of the R300 core, they're just including SM3.0 and other stuff........basically the R520 is the catch up model to the 7800 series. The R600 will be the start of ATI's Unified Shader cored PC GPUs.

Interesting. No offense but a link detailing the origin of the R520 would be appreciated :)

Good to know Nvidia is out there workin' on new GPU's that implement new technology. Right now my laptop can handle all the games I throw at it @ 1920x1200x32b, once the G80 is released along with hard-drives w/ perpendicular tech, i'll build a new machine.

Since everyone is commenting on ATi in an nvidia thread, I'd like to give my opinion on them, THEY'RE SLOW!

Slow with the X800, X800XT PE, X850 and now the R520. I think it's safe to say that ATi now has a bad reputation and Nvidia has more balls.
