Hey all,
I have been using Nvidia video cards almost exclusively since I finally decided my 3DFX Voodoo I was obsolete some time in 1999, not really because I am an Nvidia fan, but because of its greater Linux compatibility.
ATI/Radeon Linux drivers used to be atrocious, and Nvidias drivers were pretty decent.
How is this landscape today? I have been shopping around for silent fanless video cards lately. at first I was inclined to stick with Nvidia as I am so used to them and how their drivers work in Linux.
It turns out - however - that the best fanless Nvidia board I can find is the 9800GT, whereas the best Radeon fanless board is the 5750, which is a bit faster.
I'd very much like the faster Radeon, but I am concerned about driver compatibility in Linux. Have the Radeon drivers improved? Are they decent in Linux these days?
I appreciate any help.
