I'm working on a CAD workstation for a client, I've never dealt with these high end work station video cards before. There's a light on the card that comes on red and the screen goes out, it's fine after a reboot. I'm thinking it's a temperature indicator but I'm not sure, can't find anything about it online. I'm wondering if he might need an after market cooling solution.

It looks to be a lower-power draw version of the gtx260 c192, with a 108W TDP instead of the normal 180W.

Power supply would not be a top concern, IMO.

But please list out which one you have.

Is there any option in your BIOS to initialize the "option BIOS" or "VGA BIOS" in your BIOS?

It's a PNY, beyond that all I know about the card is its a Quadro FX 3800. He's got this on a server motherboard, not the most optimal situation honestly. I'll look into what bios options this board has and report back. Thanks for the quick reply.

Avoiding the fireball of hate I have against PNY....
(and their dirt-horrible sconce-filled minefield that they dare legally call "Customer Support" - what a horrid joke).

Anyhow, the 3800 is based off of an early gt200 core, shrunk to 55nm (G100 was the working name for the GT200 core. GL100 is the name for Workstation variants of it).

BTW, my "second boot" problem was caused by a loose jumper for an OC (because the stock 800fsb would crash my 1066 fsb C2D) setting. Make sure you don't have any of those.

I think I've got things sorted out, required a bios update to the motherboard. You mentioning that got me thinking about that. Will post back again after a burn in and see if anything breaks. Thanks a bunch.

PS: Yeah their service was pretty terrible trying to fix this. A lot of companies are starting to give you shit if you're not the owner of the product, but that is the nature of the situation in professional computer repair. Client brings it to your shop, you work on it. Of course you aren't going to be the owner when you try to get tech on the phone. FFS...
