New demo by NVIDIA for 8800 series cards. It looks near CGI in some of those screenshots. Much better than their Adrianne demo.

Just downloaded it a little while ago, very impressive. Wish he has some animation. It's definately not CPU bound, as it takes up only 25% of my sig rigs somewhat weak processor. If I drive the supersampler multiplier to 2.0, it slows to a crawl but still dosen't use much CPU.

I am currently 45% done downloading this.

This demo runs on Windows XP, it does not require DirectX 10.

Lmao..

Minimum System Requirements: GeForce 8800 Ultra, Windows XP, ForceWare Drivers 97.44 or higher, 512MB system memory, 256MB video memory

Screw that =P... dling it now anyway

Works fine for me on a regular 8800 GTX - getting a continuous 30FPS @ 1920X1200 that never wavers.

Turning the supersampling up to 2.0 does slow it down to about 9 FPS though. :D

Pretty cool demo!

Amazing freaking graphics! I'm getting 55 fps on this demo (thanks to SLI), however when I jack multisample from 1.5 to 2.0 I go down to 7fps.

Near CGI? The demo looks like real life man.

That is damn impressive in my opinion. I will agree though that this is still a few years beyond the current technology available. Got to take into consideration that it is still only it is the only thing that is rendering on the GPU & it alone pushes the Top 8800 card greatly. By the time we hit the 9X series of Nvidia GPU's, these kinds of graphics should be possible & by the gen after, it should be optimized. Kind of like how Half Life 2 was for it's time. Took 2 gens to fully optimize it's performance.

works nice on my GTS; funny they say, 'if you have an ultra go download this' lol.

runs fine on my 8800GTS 640.

very impressive demo.

can someone try to run this on a GF7?

Damn... I wish I had an 8 series. I'm still on a 6800. Actually does this demo need DX10? When I head back to the dorm I'll try it out if it doesn't.

It runs on XP so it doesn't need DX10.

Probably a DX10 version should be out shortly.

Getting ~20ish FPS @ 1280x1024. I had 16x AF / 8x SSAA on and was getting ~9fps hehe.. I think some stuff is still on in the control panel but didn't mess around with it much.

It should run on GF6/7 cards, it's using OGL.

The 8-series has several new extensions and there was an article on the OpenGL website about them some time ago. I'd guess the demo showcases them, as it were, eschewing the use of DX10 so that 8800 owners can run the demo without requiring Vista.

Hmm, when I set supersampling to 2.0 there's artifacts in the demo (not at 1.8 or lower). Anyone else getting that problem?

Turning up the Chome setting and watching the absolutely realistic reflection is pretty awesome.

i have this and my best fps is 17 . i have 8800gts320

Yeah the chrome setting is what they used for silver surfer, pretty neat, though I wish there was more to do in it =\
