Read and weep. 30% plunge. ATI gaining market share and predicted to continue in the next quarter. The 6800 will be the last line out of this wretched company, so enjoy your 7 fps on Doom 3. Then your choice will be between ATI and Intel integrated. Dont worry though, all those Nvidia T-shirts you have may turn out to be valuable collectors items. :p

God i hate this fanboyism...

I'm sure they won't go out of business... and if they did.. it would be bad for all of us.. remember competition is good for us consumers..

They may be losing profitability. But they aren't going anywhere. They'll be around for awhile.

LOL, please put all your money in the stock market. You have mastered it, now it's time to make a killing. :p

you are hopeless

What you're seeing here are the long-term effects of the nv3x mistake/fiasco. Nvidia lost their midrange and value market superiority, and barely held in for the enthusiast market. As soon as the entire nv4x lineup is released from value to enthusiast, they will be in for the killing and recover quickly. Remember that nv40 only started shipping at the end of Q2, so it didn't have a chance to really effect revenue numbers. Up until now they've been limping along on nv3x, trying to forget about that disaster and move on, which they have.

You should definately stay far away from the stock market my friend... far far away.

what are you talking about?

company bounce back, just because they are doing bad for a few quaters doesn't mean they aren't going to make small gains occasionaly or even bounce back entirely in a quarter or two. He's hinting that the original poster has mastered the stock market because he assumes that because nvidia didn't meet it's expected earnig it's going to go bankrupt and disapear.

Nvidia's past kicked 'em in the pocket book. So what. They got lotsa cash flow and aren't going anywhere. Besides, competition gets us kick ass cards like the 6800U and X800XTPE. Shut yer fan hole.

The 6800 will be the last line out of this wretched company,
I wonder what they will do with the 500 million in cash when they go bankrupt? Give it to me? I hope so. No, wait the government wouldn't let them go bankrupt if they have 500 million in cash, would they? If they gave it to me they would!
Fanboy!LOL

yes yes.. i see.. i see... :)

bah. if nvidia or ati goes under, it's not that big of a loss. there's obviously a large enough demand for it, somebody would fill in.

Nvidia confirmed it lost some market share in the low end of its graphics desktop segment, but it doesn't expect the market share loss to continue. Huang said Nvidia cut prices in response to competitive moves. Desktop graphics unit shipments declined 17 percent for Nvidia.

"In the end we won't lose any more share and the competition won't gain any more share," said Huang. "Because of their actions, we're all going to make less money."

I wonder what a card would have costed today if nv was still dominating the market

dude...shut up....nvidia isnt goin bankrupt.....look at all the 6800 sales....there stock is probably going to SKYROCKET as soon as they can fill orders more effectively

OMG they have stocks and they are going down!!!!!! NEWSFLASH: All stocks have up and down cycles. Almost all stocks, especially tech, have been taking a pretty bad beating the last few months. Depending on the type of investor you are, this would be a great time to buy.

Parents: Please, please please do not teach your kids to read if they lack the mental capacity to comprehend.

To the remainder of the original post, judging by your reference to the T-shits and 7fps; I would say you are nothing but a pathetic little insecure runt upset about the results of one game. Stop wasting our time here and go cry yourself to sleep or something.

that'll teach nvidia to let their idiotic marketing department, ego, and greed run the company. now that it looks like the engineers are in charge again and jen-hsun was forced to get a reality check about ati's abilities - whether he likes it or not - nvidia will be getting back on its feet.

wtf are you talking about........just remember....drugs are bad......

Remember kids: Buy low, sell high!

NVidia stocks plummet 30% = time to buy stock now for when they go up 30% :D

Shit bro, or even 40 or 50%

Nvidia really hit the big one with the NV40, it seemed like the tagline FX on their nv30/35 really hurt them. Seriously. It's bad luck!

Anyways, good luck to ATI and Nvidia, it's going to be a battle, and us consumers should biased the battles instead of the cards, because everyone knows and even ATI knows, the 6800Ultra/GT is beating ATI's top end card, and it's good for us consumers that Nvidia is competing again instead of slacking off.

I hope my words have hit you biased users about this, because if we all just group up and by a certain brand, we can say Bye Bye to the competition, and say HELLO to $800USD mid-range video cards ( $2000CND for them canadians ).

Thank the competion folk, don't thank the company. Cause if you thank the company, the company will FUCK you in the back and SCREW you over.

how can you say theyre going to go bankrupt when they still turned a profit, and their 3rd and 4th quarter sales this year will be through the roof.

Dude, stfu; Don't feed the fire, my previous thread ended the all there is to come of ATI / Nvidia boyism ( !!!!!!ism ). Seriously, I should get EXCLAIMED!

HAHA!

The majority of the money these card makers make isnt in the high end, its the mid range to low end sales. Nvidia is generally better with their $300+ range, but Ati simply is doing much better below $200 where the general consumer tends to be. Take Dell for instance, of all their home desktops only one offers an option to get a Nvidia card (the 4600 offers a FX5200 option) and all of the others are Ati cards.

It takes quite a while for cards to have a big impact on a company's market share, and Ati is simply reaping the benefits of their success of the past two years or so. When Nvidia releases cards based on NV40 for the sub $200 range then you will see them pick back up, but until then it isnt a nice time to be a Nvidia shareholder.

The real damage will be when the next generation of consoles come out. Nvidia makes about 18.6% of their total earnings off Xbox and it will be painful to to not have that income.

I dont know why some people are happy over this. I really dont want to imagine there only being one major player in the graphics market.

anyone that wants nvidia out of business is very messed up*unless ati shareholder*

lets see, nvidia goes down, ATI stagnates the graphics industry and charges $1200 for a video solution since they have no competition at their level. Same thing if ATI were to die.

Don't be so sure about the Xbox 2 situation being bad for Nvidia. In the end, while ATI is throwing engineers at a crappy arrangement from Micro$oft, Nvidia will be concentrating on desktop graphics. More focus = better product... exactly the inverse of what happened with Xbox 1. ATI on the other hand, is headed down the same dangerous path of spreading to thin. Less focus = another nv3x disaster.

I tend to agree...there was always a lot of grumbling between nVidia and M$ that gave me the impression that it wasn't the sweetest deal for nV...since M$ was losing so much money on the XBOX they were constantly trying to get nV to drop prices...

hahah going bankrupt.....wtf....stupid !!!!!!s lol, Nvidia will be around for awhile....remember they also make motherboards too....and the 6800 GFX cards are top notch....

DASHlT
P.S. I am not a !!!!!!

Not to mention it says were down upto 30 percent, at the days end it was only down 2.7 percent dumbass....

"After reopening from a trading halt, shares (NVDA: news, chart, profile) fell $3.24 to $11.30 -- an 18-month low. Shares closed the regular session down 2.7 percent to $14.56"

I think pointing out the utter !!!!!!ism of the original poster would merely be redundant at this point. However, I feel I should add to the consensus that people should probably educate themselves about issues before they make ridiculous comments.
