Guys I have problem with this card I don't know what to do.

I own Toshiba Qosmio X500-12D, if I knew all this I wouldn't buy it, but now it is too late.

My problem:
- dual display mode stress up my GPU to 100% and temps go over 100°C
- my fan doesn't speed up when GPU heats up :( (while CPU heats fan speeds up)

Is there way to down-clock this card ? I tried EVGA but no luck, I need to put voltages down ... also is there way to speed fan up ? Evga can't do it, it is locked.

I tried all drivers from Toshiba to Nvidia latest... no luck.

I noticed that on battery if I stress up GPu, my VDDC (in gpu-z) doesn't go over 0.85 and temp not over 75°C MAX; while stressing on power supply it goes over 103°C ! And sometimes it shuts laptop completely. Not to mention that without cooling pad and even now, I get BSOD + shuts down if I play games ..

I do have cooling pad, it helps little bit, but without this fan speeding up, no much gain :(

Is there a setting in the nvidia drivers, about power saving? It should let you set the GPU to always be in "long battery life" mode, or something similar.
 
Step 1) Contact technical support

Seriously, don't open your laptop in any way that risks voiding your warranty. Maybe the flat heat pipe isn't correctly mounted or the thermal paste is bad. Maybe on of the little fans is shot. Who knows. They won't intentionally sell a laptop where the GPU is hotter than boiling water.

Well it is issue, but as I said fans are going up and down in Boot up part, but when in windows, they just don't react on GPU temperatures.

It might be some other issue, but I doubt it is pipe or something, as it is pretty hot on back end, I doubt it would be so hot if he is not attached as it should. But on other hand it heats up from 50 to 70 in 2 seconds, then to 90 in few more .. that is sick.

What worries me the most is FAN that is not speeding up when GPU is hot.

I did contact all ... (nvidia and Toshiba) I'm waiting for their reply.

Why would I use can of compressed air on COMPLETELY new laptop :( it is 50 days old laptop .. I take good care of it, I put filters on bottom so dust doesn't go in, I did open cover where memory goes, it is not dusty !

Well Nibitor will not work, maybe it could but I'm afraid to mess around, my card is not supported, and it doesn't read BIOS like it should, so I will not mess with it, I know voltage in 3D mode, and I would put lower .. but I don't want to mess rest of BIOS so I'm afraid to mess with it.

If it is a "COMPLETELY new laptop" it should be well under warranty. Just contact Toshiba for a repair or replacement. Clearly there is some kind of defect with your unit.
 
I don't think so. It is not defective, I'm 90% sure. I can't tell I'm 100% sure, but 90% ..

Why ? Fans working fine on startup, so fans are working nothing bad there. If problem would be really easy I would say that sensor (temperature ohm meter is to far away or broken and it doesn't recognize temperature from GPU) thus FAN doesn't react, but on other hand then it wouldn't work on reboot.

Well I know you don't have time to search for others, but there is around 100-200 people seeking for same answer as I do. I found so many people with Display Driver Stopped working and recovered, so many people complaining about 360M overheating, or fan working on 90% .. and similar bugs..

Well I must admit so far I didn't find anybody who has problem as I do, and temperatures as I do.

I run 3D Mark 06 and it completes without bugs, I checked max temp (105°C) but it didn't shut down !

If I could only under-volt GPU to 1.00V, or 0.950 V problem would be solved ! Well I will go to warranty. If new drivers doesn't fix this (and I saw somewhere that new 260 (or maybe 259) nvidia drivers coming this or next week.
 
Dude just call toshiba, it should not do that at all. I would put up with it if it was a 2 year old laptop, but its brand new. Call toshiba tell them whats happening and let them deal with it.
