thats 1000 dollars, still quite a bit. ;) :p

Yes, yes it is.
That's why I'm not in a real hurry.
I still want to bench the ASUS a bit before I fully commit.
If the 5870 can't stomp my SLI GTX 285s.......then I may reconsider.

My point was just that good used 24" monitors are readily available and you should be able to pull off EyeFinity for under 1000......no fancy glasses or 120 Hz monitors needed.

But honestly, I have an incurable addiction to things like this and just can't help it......

No, im actually quite sure that what i said was merely an extension of my initial comment. At no point do i see any divergence from that.

As for the EVGA connection, sure that makes sense... but why bring it up? why is it necessary to mention... twice?

Just because you asked.....I think you are a shill for EVGA and I really don't like having you in our forums. We can this to PM if you wish and keep the thread OT.

I just found out that NVIDIA already has an "eyefinity" feature...and have had it for years on it quadro cards..with bezel manegment ect...all you need to do to get that on your GeForce is to run nHancer.

So AMD's "big" thing...is not so "big":D

Sure you can get Nfinity from Nvidia... if you're willing to shell out $3,000!! LOL.

Me, I'd rather buy a Radeon 5870 that kicks the crap out of a GTX 285 for under $400. Call me crazy, but with the money saved I could easily buy 3x monitors to run my new Eyefinity setup.

Once monitors with Displayport input start showing up for $200 and less, Eyefinity will become more mainstream. It shouldn't take long since a lot of people already own 2 monitor setups. What's one more? Displayport probably costs manufacturers, what, $5 to add the correct dongle?

Well, i didnt take it OT. Id gladly take it to PMs... but i believe you are misinformed in my motives and intentions. I also dont appreciate your personal attack on my character either. :(

ttyl

Makes sense to me. You complain that Eyefinity its just an overpriced option for people who want multi-monitor setup with it.

Same with the EVGA Clasified. ITs an overpriced MOBO that only a select few would go for.

Why pay $400 for a mobo, when you can get one for around $200 that does the same thing?

It's a very good comparision.

Who pays retail for... anything? Multiple times, last month, the E760 was available under $350 after CB and MIR. Why splurge on the EVGA's Classified boards? Because:
1) It looks really good. (Seriously)
2) Of all the companies to provide updates for six-core CPUs, EVGA is very likely to provide it to customer's who shelled out for their board.
3) (Most Importantly) It has the layout I need. I absolutely must have tri-sli capability with a 1xPCI-e on top for a sound card. Very few boards under $350 have this, while having 16x/16x/8x(/8x). The Asus P6T missed it's chance to be golden by using the absurd speeds of 16x/16x/4x... why couldn't they offer 16x/8x/8x? Ughh!

Really, when I buy a motherboard, it must last me the entire generation of the socket. I went through three motherboards with Socket 775, because I was too cheap and they didn't have the connectivity I needed. I won't make that mistake again.

And Eyefiniti? It's a nice improvement, but I'd much rather have 3D. Oh wait, I do.

I guess I'm an NV plant, too. Take me to the gallows.
(I know it's a dangerous game to taunt an editor in chief... please don't ban me. I like it here)

Read myh posts before you make a poop in your own pants ;)

It's free...so I get "nFinity"...for free...if I wanted it....which I don't ;)

Eyefinity=lots of bezels and a 2d flat world..... I do not need it. I guess some do though.
So I invested 379 + roughly 600 and I'm GTG.........no where near 1500 dollars and no glasses needed
Err...yeah and no REAL 3D effect either so not sure what the comparison to the 3D Glasses is supposed to do for you here....put 1000 monitors...still 2D flat.

i dont understand how this discussion shifted to a nvidia 3d glass vs eyefinity. I mean people have complained since the introduction of sli (and crossfire) that multiple monitors cant be used when sli/ crossfire is enabled. Now amd has taken the step to get past this and im sure it will make nvidia do the same. The 3d thing, well its bullshit until i dont have to wear, and keep track of, some goofy ass glasses.

I am not interested in a technology that could potentially add even more aggravation to pc gaming. I would hate to worry about what games work properly and which games dont with this multi monitor stuff. if they dont will it be up to the game developer or video card driver team to fix it? good luck dealing with game implementation problems and driver issues every time you fire up a game. according to most of the reviews I have seen for eyefinity it doesnt look ready for prime time so no thanks.
