I won't. but only because I already wear regular prescription eye glasses. I suppose I could get contacts though....

Well I'm going to try out 3d vision tomorrow , I've been having tons of issues with my 5870 and they don't have anymore instock so I'll be getting a GTX 285 and the shutter glasses. I've already got the 120hz monitor (Samsung) already so the investment isn't huge and if it sucks I'll just return it.

I can understand why people prefer the 3 monitor setup , its far easier to accept vision wise and not everyone can stand shutter glasses. I don't really understand why people are sniping at each other about it , its a matter of preference in the end. I may end up hating it but I'll atleast give it a shot.

i think the biggest problem is the price of these things.

Roger that, dude.

I think in two years more people will be used to wearing the glasses than are now. We're on the cusp of growing very used to a device that (atm) we're not used to.

This is like the days before the headphones came along and you go and you ask them, "Hey, would you wear headphones to listen to music (or a movie)?"

And they'd say, "Never! Music is not meant to be contained at ear level, it's supposed to float over the wind and alight our eardrums with rappa-tappa-rappa! I will never support these new fangled headphones!"

And now we all use them, everywhere.

Admittedly, headphones don't cause earstrain anywhere near as easily as 3d shutter (or even polarized) glasse, but I suspect over the next 2 years people will be fine with the glasses and gaming.

I say this because I think that the PS3 (and to a lesser extent the 360) will do the same as the CE manufacturers and use 3d as the next big thing. That is, the next big thing after Natal/Sony Probe fizzles out.

Because it will fizzle. Peripherals will never do well enough unless they're being given away.

So when suped up webcam's fail, then 3d will be the next awesome new technology to drag people in. Even if it gives us all migraines!

Ha ha, good point about the headphones.

But the shutterglasses have never given me headaches. I've played for several hours at a time thru entire Far Cry, NOLF, HL2, UT, Painkiller, Left 4 Dead, etc.. etc.. etc.. with shutterglasses on. Never got a headache. Usually, I think headaches are caused when people do not know how to adjust the convergence settings. I think that for most games, the convergence has to be manually adjusted to what feels most comfortable. One's eyes know what looks natural, so one should take liberty at adjusting it using the hotkeys.

My brother played through Painkiller and HL2 Episode 2 in 3D on my rig, and he never got headaches. My other bro didn't either when he played Sin Episodes and Condemned. My wife didn't either when she watched movies in 3D with those glasses. My sons love playing Spore in 3D.

I've gotten headaches when playing intense frag-fests for hours and hours without eating any food. Just like with lab rats, they would literally starve themselves for the sake of pleasuring the psychological "reward system". That, my friend, is what caused migraines, and that was when I was playing in 2D.

I'm thinking that since so few people have actually experienced 3D, this whole "migraine" thing is just a myth that arose from a few people playing when hungry or with bad convergence settings. :)

Certain people get sick playing a fast pace fps. I'm sure some could get "motion" sick from glasses when most wouldn't. My ex would ask how I could play UT without getting sick. It affected her just stopping to watch for a second.

I've not used 3D, but the posts I've read agree with your convergence settings adjustment per game for the best immersion.

It's too expensive, and there's a whopping three monitors to chose from unless you spend even more on 120Hz HDTV, which likely lags at 8ms refresh. Are there even any monitors at all that let you game in 3D at a res higher than 1920x1080? HDTVs won't let you.

I think that eye finity is a pretty amazing setup but the cost involved turns me off greatly plus having good viewing angles will be a requirement so I'd have to get IPS monitors (Kyle's video shows him using those $579 a piece dell monitors) so unless I grab 3 Dell 2209WA monitors (at a cost of around 950 dollars) there just isn't a way for me to possibly afford it.

I'm willing to take a risk on shutter glasses , I've seen a few IMAX movies with them and I didn't get any massive headaches.

I just got a AW2310 and the 3d Vision kit and I'm sold, it is a really nice option to have because one can either play games in 3d or keep it turned off, but you still have a really nice monitor for everything else (maybe not PShop pro material).
It's hard to do 3d and have headphones on, just got some Sony MDR-V6's which clamp onto the head.
When coming out of a 3d game my monitor has trouble going back into normal mode and stays with the brightness at 100% ? is it just the AW2310 or do all the 120hz do this ? I'm sure I'll find the answer some where arond here.
I have a BFG 275 gtx and a XFX5870 that I am alternating between till the GTX480/70 come out so then we can have DX11 and 3D Vision together, I can do both right now but just not together.
But I do love having the whole 3D option there when I want it. (yes it is expensive but so are ssd's , the future is too slow)

have no interest in wearing glasses, especially when i wear glasses already for corrective vision.

The idea of having to wear a set of glasses puts me off right away.
If they came up with a way to show 3D without having to wear glasses (or anything) and made it usable on whatever brand of graphics card you use I would be willing to try it.

Hmm I already wear glasses... Dam genetics...

They need to figure something else out.

I personally have no problem with wearing the glasses for 3D gaming. I hope that technologies like eyefinity and 3D surround gain extensive popularity however. There is a lot of bitching about either but I feel that it has the potential to progress PC gaming as a whole if it is able to gain enough support.

As and unbiased consumer, I support these sorts of advances from either company because it only offers me MORE quality and quantity of PC gaming goodness! :)

Fanboism of either ATI or Nvidia is fucking idiotic. Supporting the failure of either companies technology only harms the progression of our beloved computer technology. Here is to wishing both companies success in provide innovations for us and competition for each other which ultimately allows us access to quality, fast, and competitively priced hardware to play with.

I voted that I would consider the possibility of wearing them. Nvidia would have to offer the glasses at a good price though. There would also have to be some games I would want to play that would support it. If push came to shove though I would get an Eyefinity setup first.

I just paid 6 grand to have lasik and now i'm going to have to start wearing glasses again to watch tv and play games !!!!!

But seriously anyone who has these things , how is it playing games with these on and full cup headphones over them ?

had the shutter glasses with the geforce 2, tried them once or twice then they sat in a drawer.

same thing would probably happen this time too.

Legacy 3D hardware only costs $10-$30, it's the nVidia branded ones that cost $200.00

Legacy is just a simple circuit that's connected to your monitors cable, specifically the V-Sync pin (DVI still has it), all it does is switch sides whenever it intercepts a refresh signal. It's incredibly simple and cheap if you don't mind having a thin wire running from the PC (You're already doing this with your headphones!). For some reason, nVidia stopped supporting these and started promoting their own hardware.

Legacy probably isn't as accurate as the nVidia ones (Mine had controls that lets you manually sync with the monitors refresh, nVidia probably does it automatically), but at $10.00, it's an impulse buy.

@Crazylegs77
Maybe there wasn't anything out there that's good enough for 3D back then? I had mine around the time Painkiller came out and it was quite an experience. Gibs flying everywhere and stuff bring thrown in your face. Running through a mob of soldiers and mowing through them with a rocket launcher, and then running through the bloody mists and flying body parts. It's not all that helpful for Driving and RTS, but imagine playing it with TombRaider or Prince of Persia. Pretty good experience for $10.00.

BTW, in RTS, your cursor is floating 50 feet off the ground, kinda makes it hard to judge what unit is below it. But man, it certainly makes you feel like a kid watching his action figures moving around his desk.
