Despite Nvidia CEO Huang Jen-hsun previously saying that the company is set to announce its new 28nm GPU architecture at the end of 2011 and 22/20nm in 2013, sources from graphics card makers have pointed out that Nvidia has already adjusted its roadmap and delayed 28nm Kepler and 22/20nm Maxwell to 2012 and 2014.

AMD .28 "7xxx" series scheduled to launch this fall

Any links? From what I understood TSMC wouldn't be ready for full scale 28nm until 2012.

given the history of nvidia's gigantic gpu's compared to AMD's smaller gpu's that might be why nvidia's is pushed back while AMD's is coming out sooner. also AMD and Nvidia tend to do things in reverse of each other where AMD releases their mid range first and high end later. so TSMC may be a lot slower on the high end production.

either way its not really a surprise we knew kepler wasn't going to be out until Q1 2012 anyways.

Yeah, this is not really surprising and somewhat old news. The first big sign that something was amiss was the cancellation of GTC for this year. Then they moved it down to May of next year. If you don't remember, the 2009 GTC is where the whole woodscrew card fiasco happened so Nvidia probably learned their lesson and don't want a repeat of that until they have something real to show.

This.
Known for a little while now.

charlie had this to say "Given the late Q1, maybe, time frame for Kepler, it looks like that part will be on 28 HP. One related point, low power tends to mean lower clocks, and Nvidia runs their shaders at 2x the base clock, in the neighborhood of 2x what AMD runs theirs at. This may be the key differentiator that enables AMD to use 28 HPL while Nvidia’s architecture may be unsuitable."

He rails against the green tho

he does and any bad news for the green team is usually reported with glee. but this is in line with what other have been saying and doing. and to be fair his tract record here is seconded to non. (might be a prick but a prick with connections)

digitimes said 2012 already, heck alot of websites has pretty much said though.

The only thing of interest is if ati's will also be in 2012 or not. as of last year, i said there would not be any 28nm vid cards out this year because i have no faith in TSMC and i still believe that.

Well put.
