Here comes another headphone with a gimmick—or is it? These are advertised to measure your hearing from your outer ear all the way to the brain and adapt music perfectly to you.

You might wonder why music needs to adapt. Isn’t it all the same? Well, no it isn’t. The fact is that everyone hears sound frequencies differently, just as unique as our fingerprints and voices. That means that headphones, no matter how expensive can sound different to each person. Scientifically, Nura headphones do this by using a microphone to listen to the soundwaves that enter and exit the ear to detect your personal hearing signature. This takes just 30 seconds by calibrating once with the tap of a button on the smartphone app. That means multiple people can configure and share the same Nura headphones, though I’m not sure you would want to share them.

LOL are they kidding? I'm supposed to endure headphones and earbuds at the same time? Looks insanely unnecessarily uncomfortable.

I have several pairs of headphones but one pair that cost me $35 dollars with 50mm drivers that sounds amazing.

The slower the brain, the better these sell.

On a serious note, I bet these use technology similar to what the hearing test module does in my doctor's office. It plays a rising sequence of tones and measures the echo back (or something) to determine my hearing level over the frequency range. These things probably do something similar and then auto-adjust the equalizer to compensate for any loss. It's a cool idea, though the built-in earbuds look uncomfortable.

I have a hard time believing that it would outperform some good cans and an EQ curve you set up for yourself. Of course most people have never bothered with proper EQ in their life, so it would probably sound amazing to them.

An app might be what is setting up the custom EQ based on what you pick.

I think if you want the best you can get, you will do just that - a good set of headphones and a custom EQ. Otherwise, it's more gimmicky and similar to turning on the loudness feature on your stereo...

The irony, I wear headphones because I don't want to wear iem's and vice versa.

This is analogous to autotune for your ears.

Just the appearance alone annoys me to no end. This is a terrible idea.

Be sure to remind us of our douchebaggery when you buy these and the EQ app asks you for access to your contacts, camera, storage, laundry list, bank account, and your bedroom.

I'm already starting down that road. I think most tech people get to that point where specs and reviews is what they want.

I won't remind you of anything! I wait for reviews of the final product (audio).
On occasion I'll Kickstart/Indego a campaign with 0 expectation. An example is a digital earphone that drew additional power from the USB port (I like these for travel because $25 vs $300 is an easy answer). Problem is, you can't charge at the same time.... so sad, so they don't travel or get used...

I bought their USB DAC, used it for 2 days, then put it back in the package never to be opened again.

Take a look at this thread, immediately sharply negative (instead of normal negative). My comment just simply referenced the 'sound' community as being very douchey (your word). Which, you got to admit it is, when you take an outsider's view in.

Any review of anything goes in two directions; praise in the comments followed by a bunch of question about how does it compare to this or that earbud; or, a bunch of sharp attacks in the comments followed by this or that earphone/can does everything so much better for a cheaper price.

You see your reply, instantly and sharply negative. I did not even mention anything about the product; but the 'sound' community comes out anyway looking for someone's eye to stab out.

Sorry. I am always like that when it comes to "apps". I did not shit on the product, unless you consider the app to be part of the product. Please do not fall for this crap. Feel free to look at my posts and think I am a terrible person, though.
