OK, ordering my first rack case tomorrow and gonna switch things around when it gets here. Tested put two of my GX2s and I'm gonna keep them, havnttested the third yet but may need to sell it

Anyways, I'm looking at using my i7 as my main rig since it won't fit in the rack with the case I'm getting and a true

So, I'll have an i7 with a decent OC 3.7 and dual 295's as my first rig, SMP2 only since it's my daily driver

then I'll have my Q66 with dual GX2s in the first rack mount case

fewquestions

1) would a PCPC 750 or a 750TX be enough for the Q66 and 2 GX2s?

2) What am I looking at points wise on these two rigs?

3) I forget, I'll update later with more Qs

You will be fine with either of those PSUs

I ran 3x 9800GX2 cards off a 750TX with just a bit of headroom to spare. (would not do it now with some of the new power hungry WU out there currently)

I really need something better than the 8800GT in my main machine. Then I could put the 8800GT in my son's machine which means I could put the 8600GT in my server replacing the 6600GT and then see about setting it up for Wine GPU folding. I think that would work out great for all involved.

i7 @ 3.8 (SMP2) = 13,000
dual 295's (currently) = 30,000
dual GX2's (guess) = 20,000 (stock)
Q66 Stock (SMP2 guess) = 4,000
PS3 = 1,000

Put it all together, Roughly 68,000 PPD no? I tried to be conservative on my guesses, I'm just throwing numbers out there

Once I can get this switch done I should be able to get back towards working on skynet, would love to get her up even if points are gonna be low.
Plus I could sell off excess parts and maybe get another rig in the rack then hoping to cross 100k (my original goal) by summer

Maybe 550-600W for the i7 rig and ~500W for the GX2 machine. Very rough estimates.

I'm still going to wait for -bigadv A3, but you all are going to force me to buy more "D" or get pushed even lower in the ranks.... I'm not enjoying getting knocked down to 21st place.

I'm hoping a3 bigadv is easyenough on the rig to still operate as a daily driver

I can't afford to run bigadv on my daily driver, tie it up too much

SWMBO getting all antsy about your tech expenditures? So far my gf has regarded my computer purchases with disconnected wonderment. I'm guessing the next time I tell her I'm looking at $500-$1k of hardware she will be slightly more vocal about the ROI on such an endeavor.
