The National Rifle Association has honored Ajit Pai with the “Charlton Heston Courage Under Fire Award,” a Kentucky long rifle, for braving death threats as he worked to undo net neutrality. According to one attending executive, Pai “saved the Internet.”
The repeal of the net neutrality rules was a victory for internet service providers like AT&T, Comcast, and Verizon, conferring power over what content consumers can access and allowing them to offer paid fast lanes for certain content. On the other side, technology companies have thrown their weight behind the congressional bid to reverse the net neutrality repeal.
