i haven't bought many computer parts just the ones for my current computer so i am unsure as to which companies are better than others when it comes to parts and best buy has a sale for 2 different TB external HD and so which would be a better co. to go with Maxtor or Iomega??
 
Maxtor IMO since they offer the longer warranty IIRC
 
Firstly, breathe. Full stops and paragraphs, not to mention a proper subject line that says what the thread topic is. "Reputable external HD brands?", perhaps.

Secondly, the Seagate external HD's are quite good, I've found. Nice and fast, fairly reliable, they seem solidly built.
