Not in the US - Which GPU?

Hi Friends,

Mulling picking up a GPU in this stupid market. Don't think NV can do much with the Super refresh in giving us better GPUs since the 5080 is already maxed out, unless they give us a cut down 5090 chip and move the 5070TI Super to a full GB203.

Not based in the US, so prices are out the door and inflated as hell.

My current system specs

5900X
6600XT
Gaming at 1080p 144hz but will study moving to 1440p IF I can get back the gaming itch (haven't been gaming much lately)

I'm not entirely happy with my 6600XT. I have a bit of frame drops playing medium to high settings even with games that are supposedly easier to play like Diablo 4 when I was still playing it. Space Marine 2 I had to dial down settings to get fluid framerates, although I understand my CPU may also be to blame here. If I still itch to upgrade, the CPU that comes after the 9800X3D MAY be in the pipeline.

I considered a 4070Super but the 12GB vs 16GB argument... I'm already overkilling, may as well.

A 4070TI Super is about $870 here. The 5070TI is about $1050. I can get a cheap entry level MSI 5070TI Shadow for $900, but if the models above it are reportedly noisy and run a little hotter, may as well overkill a little more.

Is the 5070 TI worth the almost $200 for the frame gen and overclocking potential alone?

Which do you guys reckon I should be getting. No AMD this time around. AMD doesn't like our market based on their pricing. 7800XT is priced similarly to a 4070 Super here.

Thanks and apologies for the long winded post!

Entry level 5070ti like the one you talked about at $900. Dunno if you're still looking though since this thread is from a week+ ago :).

Get the cheaper $900 5070 Ti if those are your buying options. The only reason NOT to get the 5070 Ti is if you play a lot of games that use PhysX. Notably Batman Arkham series. Those are older games usually though so it's probably not an issue for you.

12GB is not a good use of your money in 2025 so skip the 5070 vanilla entirely. 4070Ti Super is alright but if the 5070Ti is just $30 bucks more get that one.

Ended up picking up the Palit 5070TI Gamerock for $1050 all inclusive of tax. Thankful I can turn off the RGB from software.

The cheaper $900 5070TI unfortunately went out of stock. Prices here are crazy. The next 5070TIs up were $1250.

Now is a good time as any to shop for a 1440p monitor then...

Thanks guys! :]

Edit:
To edit for the people suggesting a 5080. Cheapest 5080 was running the equivalent of $1475. Not in my budget for a 1080p monitor when I hardly game anymore. If I do end up picking up a 1440p monitor and finding the desire to seriously game again, I suppose I could regret it though :]

Why did you buy brand new $1050 Nvidia card if you not even gaming regularly?
What was wrong with buying used 6800 XT? As an upgrade to 6600 XT? That would have been extremely cheap compared to your $1050 expense.

That idea did cross my mind, but the used marketplace in my country is a shitshow. That, and I just wanted something new :]

The fastest one you can afford. Frankly, that's always the recommendation unless there is some sort of weird constraint. In this case, a 5080 or 5070Ti would be what I'd go for under those circumstances. Yeah, you can get by with less but it will give you room to grow monitor wise and the higher end your GPU is today, the longer you can go in between upgrades.

Nothing wrong with going with a new GPU. Congrats on getting one. The Ray Tracing on the 5070 Ti is a lot better than the 6800 XT. So if you end up playing Cyberpunk, you'll be glad you got the Nvidia card later.

IMO the 1440P monitor is a worthy upgrade to go with your new graphics card. A 27" 1440P that does 165hz or better will look a LOT better than 1080p and the 5070 Ti can handle that resolution easily.
