FAH point recredits & server code updates
We've found a bug in our server code related to SMP (and GPU2 clients, but this is just a small alpha test right now) and are working to fix it. We think we have found the problem and so we've been working to do a series of manual point recredits before putting in the new working code. If you're running an SMP client, you may be seeing some new recredit points today and maybe later this week as well.

--------
So it looks like they figured out certain ones are by far way under valued.. like that 1440 point monster that takes 24hrs plus to churn through?

This is good news for ye of us that have been plagued by these units... I know Kendrak had several!

Or those damned 2619 which is worth only 1620 points where it should have been around 1900 - 2000 each.

Any ideas which SMP units will be receiving extra credit / re-credits this time around?

Well here I was all content to sit here and gumble to myself :p

what is the purpose of manual recredits if it is to punish folders who got extra points ???

Oh! the drama indeed !!!

What this was in reference to was a number of primarily 2605 units that were uploaded but no points made it to the stats. A bunch of people had monsterous points that day. Relax, nobody is going to have points taken away.

Seamonkey is speeding up to me from behind, stuff is starting to rattle and shake. 6 days till you pass by, lets see if i can put it off for another day or two!

Tried to actually reply with to the thread, but I was on a cell modem. Didn't work out too well. Now I can't remember what I was actually going to say. Maybe that's the next thing they can try to cure. :)

Actually thought of a few other excuses for that post.

I was just trying to up my lame post count to get rid of the noob title...

I mistook this for the test your badge thread...

Actually the reality is that I spent way too much time with my confirmed alcoholic SNIA cohorts at SNW this week. I think I killed a few brain cells. Drunk posting over a cell card doesn't work too well. Let me be the lesson. :) Started drinking while we were tearing down some of the labs. They started drinking way too early for me today.

To try to make this relevant, that would kinda suck if a point change has an impact on the slow but steady stalking job I've been doing on Connundrum1's point total.

It would be nice to see some of the work units reevaluated in regards to points as some of them do seem to be a bit on the low end. The ones I think are probably the worst are the ones that actually require a quad core to be turned in on time and won't be issued to any client that doesn't report as a quad core to crunch them.

I don't think we're going to see much if anything from the manual recredits unless they are running way behind on doing them since the news post was from April 2 and it's now April 10. I definitely wouldn't mind seeing better PPD out of my machine since it's getting two of the 4 core required work units at the same time. That box is usually hovering around 4k PPD instead of the close to 5k PPD it would be doing on the 1760 pointers.

Either way, I'm not going to worry much as long as they keep crunching. Well, except for a couple of work units that almost always seem to stall for no reason whatsoever requiring me to restart the client so it continues from where it left off. However, due to the horrible efficiency of the quad core work units, I lose a lot of points because the remaining client can't nearly keep up even with the extra cycles it gets to use from the other instance quitting. This problem has severely affected my PPD lately and I'm about to start running VMs on my main machine again to avoid this. I'm sick and tired of having these work units crash on me and then losing the lost time when it's not working as well as the lost time and points when it deletes the work and starts the unit over.

Eh, I'll keep folding either way and the points complaints have been happening for years now. The last time I actually remember seeing something good in regards to recalculated points was with the old Tinkers. That was when they raised the point values from 70 points per unit up to around 220 or something like that. Talk about a HUGE boost for those of us who were running AMD at the time (which was the vast majority of the home farmers and gardeners).

^ Smoke, which WUs specifically are giving you problems?
