I noticed that I couldn't get my 4 OCZ Platinum Revision sticks up to 1000mhz. they would jsut not boot.

I just read that since i have 4 x 1 GB sticks, i need to up my northbridge voltage, because 4 sticks stresses it alot.

but what are the stock northbridge voltages for a P5K-E? What should i up it to?
What about the south bridge?

You only have to modify the northbridge voltage as that component is the only thing that handles the memory.

As for the actual number, I believe that the stock voltage for a recent intel northbridge is 1.25V. I think a safe voltage for them to be is around 1.35 to 1.4V as long as good cooling is present

Stock is 1.25V and per Intel datasheet the absolute max is 1.375. Putting a fan on it might help and cannot hurt. How much you need is something you have to determine with testing. I have seen much higher MCH voltages used, I am just telling you what the data sheet says FYI.

The southbridge should have no effect on the memory subsystem.

that HAS to be why it wouldn't let me do 1000mhz.

I'm gunna go give it a shot now.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I owe you one! :)

alright i upped the voltage to 1.4 (it only let me do 1.4 or 1.65 or something, there was no in between).

unfortunatly even with 2.25 volts on the RAM it wouldn't let me boot 1000mhz at 5-5-5-15 timings, I even dropped the command rate to T2 for one boot, still wouldn't work.

So im guessing its just a limitation of having 4 sticks in the same board. oh well i guess it won't go any further.

although i was able to get a bit of a better overclock with the upped northbridge voltage.

DDR2-900mhz
4-4-4-15 timings
2.2 volts on the DRAM
1.4 volts on the Northbridge

Runs ALOT more stable then it did with stock 1.25 on the northbridge.

Now I'll try to get the max OC on the E2180, haha.
then theres the 8800GT but thats the next chapter.
