If there are threads on this I'm sorry I looked and didn't see anything and speed fans help wasn't any help.

I have a P5W DH and when I installed speedfan it's showing the AUX temp as 122c I'm guessing that is the NB temp.

So if that is the NB temp is anybody else having high temps like that. If it's not NB then what the heck is running at 122c

Also I am running the extra NB fan that comes with the mobo so why would they be so high.

probally the Mosfets for the cpu voltage supply.

The NB would be dead at that temp.

The MosFETS can handle it, but next time you have it out of the case, take off that heapipe and put AS ceramic under the sinks and replace the push pins with proper screws nuts and washers.

My guess is due to board flex from the heatsink the Mosfets are not making good contact with the hs/heatpipe, this is right where your optional fan ( I think) is so its the only reason I can think of, other than that is a good OC but the Vcore is not that high, if at idle thats too hot, if at full load its to be expected and not to worry.

Is the fan actually on the NB or is it on the fins/heatpipe just behind your fan, I cant find a picture LOL.

If its on the NB I would get some more airflow on the mosfets, your zalman is shooting it all out the back of the machine and the area below it is most likely not geting air like it would if the "blow by" of a normal cooler was present. Havent used the zalman but you could probally just put a finger probe back there and see if you feel good air flow, and if the heatsink is working well it should be hot as hell at 122C. If you can count to 5 under load then its probally not conducting heat well from those mosfets underneath it.

all just a good guess. easy enough to track down, dont burn yourself.

That just sounds screwed up. I'd recheck the application's configuration.

Those temps are my Idle temps. I'll try checking and see if it feels crazy hot around the fan.

The fan is on the fins after the heat pipe. Think I'd be better off taking off the factory setup and get something new.

I have the good old AS but not the ceramic, should I order the ceramic or is the silver ok.

Maybe I'm just blind but is there a link somewhere to how I can configure Speedfan. I've tried to figure it out but I'm lost with it.

cant help with speedfan sorry.

yes take that little fan off and in like 3 minutes that finned part of the heatpipe should get real warm, if it does good. I am probally just scaring you its a good thing to look at if you ever take the board out but dont worry too much about it, until you can get speefan configured it might be reading the back side of the sun for all we know.

I take it you're using SpeedFan 4.32? I have the same problem with 4.32 under Vista, 4.31 shows normal temperatures all around. Im sure its a problem with 4.32 / Vista and I wouldnt worry about it.

Try using another program to check your temps.

Yes it's normal. i don't know what it is either, but it happens on my P5B Deluxe WiFi/AP. And I was on a thread earlier where people were saying the same. I'm not saying reseating as the above post recommended, but may not be necessary.

Its speedfan bro, I get those temps too with my P5B-E. Whats odd is the the Aux temp goes down from 122 to like -22 when I run orthos, let me know if you see similer.

Cool thx for the advice guys.

Guess I can stop worrying my rig is going to burst into flames:cool:

Wow speed fan does have some issues with monitoring temps. I just loaded it and and my CPU temp is --106c.

Woot half way to absolute zero can't wait to start overclocking now. I should be able to hit 6ghz easy @ 2.4v:D
