Non-Variable fans, in a Variable fan case.

Is it possible? I mean, I think it ought to be.. I have an Antec Df-85, and all the fans are variable, however, two of the fans have started rattling at highspeed and I don't need variable fans, since they sit at 100% all the time anyway, I was just wondering if it's possible to put regular fans in there, and if there would be any.. worries, or things to have to deal with in the replacement. Thanks for any answers :)
 
Non variable (3-pin) in a 4 pin slot will just run 100% all the time, so will just be like the ones you have now. But thats pretty much it. if they are too loud at full speed, you can just us a fan controller (some cases come with them) and turn them down a little (or use an inline resistor).
 
Are you talking the antec 3 speed fans with the little switch on them? Or 4 pin PWM fans?

Either way, yes you can put normal fans in. They just wont change speed.
 
Are the cables from the front fans attached to the bit with the dial, or is the dail just part of the fan? If it's seperate, you could plug the replacement fans into the wiring on the dial?
 
I haven't removed the fans to check lol. I think they're attached but if not that could come in handy :)
