Are the various non conductive coolants really safe? Like say a major hose failure and you drop coolant directly on a video board of into the powersupply which is bottom mounted in my case. Are you still safe? Id like to go water but man i dont want to kill a $2500+ rig because a hose clamp failed.

initially they are, but the quickly lose the "non-conductive" properties. if u think your gonna be worrying about ur rig leaking all the time, then u shouldnt get into watercooling

if you do things right, leaks are pretty much unheard of. i recommend 7/16" hose over 1/2" barbs.

leak testing a loop at least 24 hours before installation is a must.

Depends whether you are talking about the cheap ones or the expensive ones.

Even if they were non-conductive while new they'll become conductive as soon as they spill all over your dust-covered electronics :S

How does a hose clamp fail?
It's really hard to build a WC system that leaks

I can't remember the name of the stuff I was referring to but it had a odd chemical name and it was a few hundred dollars for your typical loop.

HELL NO.. but worm drive clamps dont just "fail", so its 99% chance user error if it fucks up somehow.

No.

No - there is no such thing as a hose failure - only install failures.

Good quality hose clamps do not fail - as above, there are only installation failures.

Get some decent quality automotive hose clamps or good quality compression fittings and install with care. Leak test the system before powering the computer electronics and forgetabout it.

Treat it as you would any other water spill. If it somehow gets on your system whilst running, shut everything down immediately, dry all your components thoroughly, and there's a good chance the components will be fine.
