I've had this problem the last few days as well. It's been going on today for several hours. They need to fix this crap.

Yep...been 3 days without any work at all for me. You know the economy is in the gutter when you can't even get work from F@H >_<

My q9450 sat for a bit last night without any WU, then it got one so it's definitely a spotty issue.

Yeah, I checked my desktop when I woke up this morning and found it had gone 12 retries without finding any work. Ironically it found work on retry #3 when I shut the client down and restarted it.

They need to get some larger WU out so it takes us longer to go though a stack.

my VM was doing the same thing but its working a 3340 point item

For those running SMP2 on Core i7s and i5s, C2Qs or Phenom IIs, they should add in queueing. That would be good.

What project is that? I've never heard of that before. The 6040s are large, they're about 12 minutes a frame on a 3GHz i7, but their base is only 1300 points or so.

I am going on 6 days without being able to get a work unit. Here is my log.

[17:33:53] Loaded queue successfully.

5.03 is a very old client version. Download and install 6.23 from here and see if that helps: http://folding.stanford.edu/English/Download

Depending on what CPU you are using, you may also want to consider using the SMP client instead. Here is a guide for setting that up if you're interested: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1511766

Folding@Home Client Version 5.03

IP address 0.0.0.0= Version 5.03
http://fahwiki.net/index.php?title=Why_was_Client_assigned_to_Server_with_IP_address_0.0.0.0?

Work for the 5.03 client has been reduced over the last few months.
The client is not capable of running any of the newer cores. (B3 / A4) and is limited to a few select F@H cores.I would suggest you upgrade to 6.23 if your hardware/os supports it.
Project availability will be much higher.

This no work business sucks, especially since I just installed the SMP client last night =(

I guess with all the teams putting out crazy large numbers lately weve been taking too much work and Stanford can't keep up lol

I'm trying SMP out on my netbook just for shits and giggles but not getting anything yet after 8 tries

restarting and gonna see if I can catch one yet

LOL, just as I restart I grabbed one from the get go, 6012, A3 unit

Now to see how well this atom folds lol

Well I installed the new client and all is well again. I suppose I could have checked if there was a new version or not.. I'm horrible when it comes to that, heh.. :) I'm just mad I missed out on 6 days of folding over something so stupid.

Happens to all of us bro, don't worry too much

What I can't believe is now long some of you guys(and 2 girls if my count is correct) have been at this folding thing. I just can't understand why i'm getting so addicted to it when all it does is let me watch a screen with % completion numbers :)

I hope to have multiple boxen folding one day, although i'm going to take my desktop and laptop offline once I get my dedicated folding rig setup at the end of this month. My folding dream, would be one of those new Magny-Cours setups with 2 cpus totalling 24 cores. Anyone here folding with one of those monsters? It is way out of my price range for what I can afford to do right now, but the pricing on one of those are not as high as I would have assumed when I was browsing newegg last night.

Read a review where one of those was netting about 63k or so, that's with the top line magny in a 2P config

I'm assuming that's A3 tho, it should be higher bigadv, much higher

dual 5650's got the same score at stock aswell, so you can see thatclock speed and Intel coding give a big hand to a rig that only has 12 real cores

All I can say is that it doesn't get any easier, LOL.

I would love one of those to try folding on. Prices are better than expected because I believe AMD is trying hard to recapture the server market that it lost the past few years.

yup, thats the review I was talking about, thanks for the link zero

Well here is the wierdest thing.......

I'm running the windows SMP client and just now noticed that my desktop grabbed an A1 WU. I think this the first A1 unit that the SMP client has ever gotten as they have all been A3 WU's so far. Is it normal for there to be no progress % complete ticker like there are when you are doing normal A3 WU's?

Not sure what you mean, but if you are talking about in fahmon or a similar app, click get new info or whatever it's called to download the new projects, that may do it

Sorry about the A1, but it seems it's happening less now, maybe we are actually almost done with them? As for work, I finished my first A3 on my stock Q66 last night, checked the logs this morning, got a packet right away, no retries here, havnt had one on either client

I am talking about the command prompt screen that looks like this where it displays your progress so far on the WU it is working on. Instead of looking like this for an A3 WU, it is just blank for the A1 WU. I see that all 4 cores are at 100% utilization, but there is no display of how far along it is getting in that command prompt screen. I still havn't set up a monitor yet, and probably should do that soon.

A1 units should report progress information as well, just like any other units.

This is basically where it has been stuck at for a while now. I see FaHcorea1.exe 4 times in the task manager with each taking up 25% cpu power. All 4 of my cores are at 100% utilization though, so it must be doing something.

Huh, whats the odds of that lol

I just had an A3 do what you described, the console stopped updating after 1% completion, I thought It had frozen as that's where it was at this morning when I got back from work. Anyways, task manager showed 100% on all 4 cores, so I shut down and restart. Low and behold, the count starts up just fine again at 59%, it had been running along the whole time, just the console stopped reporting back

Strange, havn't heard of that really before now

Have you tried restarting the client? Also, navigate to the F@H directory and open up unitinfo.txt. If work has been progressing, that file should indicate a completion percentage. For example, my unitinfo.txt file has this in it at the moment:
Progress: 52% [|||||_____]
