Windows Connected says that they have been informed by Microsoft that there will be no SP1 anytime soon and that only a select few testers will get their hands on an early build.

“There will be a Windows Vista service pack and our current expectation is that a beta will be made available sometime this year. Service packs are part of the traditional software lifecycle — they’re something we do for all Microsoft products as part of our commitment to continuous improvement, and providing early test builds is a standard practice that helps us incorporate customer feedback and improve the overall quality of the product.

I hope RyanVm or one of those other update packers are on that list of the few

And to put it mildly - it would be not such a great idea for either a tester to release into the wild, or someone in the general population to consider using a BETA of a M$ service pack. Look @ how much of a PITA Win XP's SP1 was... Personally, I'd wait until not only the actual release, but wait until the feathers die down and let OTHER people be the installation guinea pigs.

No SP1 RC1 this week? =/ Darn... it was going to be my last hope for Vista...

time to go back to XP!

I just want the service pack released by 4/08. That way it will be released and all the bugs discovered by the time I upgrade my work to Vista next summer.
