No Sound

I Cant turn up the volume i get no options when i click the sound icon on my taskbar resinstalled Mobo drivers nd audio drivers still no luck the icon is displaying but i cant see the sound/volume options! i also tried to set the volume in control panel see the pic

i have Asus A7N266-VM mobo any help will be appreciated!

I assume you're using onboard sound. Are you sure that the onboard sound is enabled in the BIOS? Have you checked your device manager to make sure that your sound solution is detected, working properly, and enabled? Are your speakers plugged in correctly and turned on?
 
Are you using the front audio ports? If you are not using them make sure the jumpers are in place. It should show you where they go in the motherboard manual.
 
it seems that my mobo doesn't like Win Xp SP2 i Formatted the drive and installed WinXPSP1 the sound is working now!:D
 
I'd figure out who the actual audio chip maker is (usually Realtek or someone like that), then just download the newest drivers from their website for your audio chip.
