Hi, i'm looking for a 24" VA/TN semi-glossy and no-pwm screen.

The only ips/pls that has these characteristics is the s24a850dw afaik, or maybe there is something new?

Dell 2413 - No PWM above 19% brightness, soft coating
Eizo EV2436 - No PWM above 19% brightness, hard coating (IPS/LG)
Eizo EV2336 - No PWM above 19% brightness, soft coating (PLS/Samsung)
NEC EA244WMi - Waiting for a serious review, but it seems it has soft coating (IPS/LG)

Edited, it's above 19%, not 18%.

Correction, it's above 19%. PWM is not horrible at 19%, which is why many people don't mind, but it needs to be set at 20 for PWM to be completely gone. Check this review: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2413.htm

At 20%:

At 19%:

Are you sure about this? It says IPS on the EIZO site.

Strangely PLS models used by other companies than Samsung advertise them as IPS -- I guess they figure PLS will just confuse people or something. I think the 2333 is PLS, not sure about the 2336, but it may be.

A while ago I asked Eizo if a specific model was PLS or IPS, and they claimed IPS. And then someone here opened it up and it had a PLS panel -- so not sure if all Eizo people even know what they are selling.

Thats a common ailment. Most 'brands' dont know what the hell they they're dealing with. Everything kind of feels 'rebranded' these days. Someone else makes the product and they just slap their logo on and tries to pump up the hype. Thats, I guess, where Apple made a difference. For a while anyway, but now they're quickly losing it.

Whats even more scary is that hitech-companies dont really know what they're making anymore. The processes are too complicated and changes too quickly for any one person to have a full idea what is going on.

Not much difference between IPS and PLS. Samsung just decided to use a different name to distinguish it from LG. It is like PVA vs MVA. It is understandable manufacturers will call PLS LCDs IPS as not many people know wtf PLS is.

Ok i just bought an EIZO EV2336, i hope colours will be well calibrated, i don't have a calibrator and i can't find any ICC profile online. Also response times for fast games... will see.
