You know, it is pretty damn funny watching people try to explain Google+. Is it really that difficult? Maybe it's just these guys that can't figure it out. Thanks to Malory M. for the link.

At first, everyone thought it was Facebook. But as tech insiders take more time to explore Google's new online social network, called Google+, which is currently available only to people who are invited to the service, they're becoming more and more confused.

Maybe they can add an EMO / 15 year old FML my boyfriend is a dick and my box is itchy filter.

Well Facebook was suppose to be like linked in back when my space was king. Then it became popular. So someday LinkedIn will become like Myspace.
 
The question is when will google + turn to facebook. Or will it stay as is. I'm in the beta, I love it, would prefer it over facebook right now.
 
Any of you who need a social network to exist in this world, need not exist.

Keeping up with friends, who aren't friends anymore, is not being very productive.
 
It's a lot more than just Facebook - Part 2.

Yes there is that traditional profile-based social networking, but it's a lot of twitter+blogging+discussion based component to it.
 
It's Facebook, only most of your friends and local businesses probably aren't on it yet...

True. Advertising (and spammers) absolutely destroyed MySpace. Getting too commercialized will just lose you people and they'll go to the next big semi-exclusive thing. But the marketers will follow and destroy that too.

That said, I swear if people don't quit spamming me with invites. I refused to use facebook, why all of them seem to think I will change my mind about this is beyond me.

Please, don't post again. I am currently in the military and stationed 2,200 miles away from friends and family. It's fucking great to keep up with them, and keeps up the spirit when you're away and on deployments.

Just because you're adding people who aren't your friends anymore doesn't mean everyone else is. :rolleyes:
 
Seriously. Social networking is a whole lot more than having high school people you didn't like trying to "friend" you or whatever.
I keep up with my college buds that are all thousands of miles away and I know every dinner special in the state and what's on tap at 40 different breweries every day after looking at Facebook for 30 seconds.
It's one reason Google+ is doing nothing for me right now. Companies really aren't on the bandwagon yet, and Facebook hasn't started sucking bad enough to run most people off either.
When looking for some kind of mind-blowing extra feature Facebook is missing...well...right now there isn't one.
Circles and privacy are nice, but if you really utilize everything Facebook has, most of that stuff is there if you want it to be.
I'm thinking they'll likely need to do more with it to avoid it becoming Google Wave all over again.
 
It is pretty much just facebook except that it lets you keeping your friends close and your enemies even closer.... without needing two accounts.

Says the guy who has spent 6 years on a forum, talking to people who aren't his friends and not being productive.
 
Why are they struggling to define Google+? Underneath it is just a new targeted advertising system to make money out of users by spamming them in new, subtle ways. As a secondary use there are features copied from Facebook.

Just think of the advertising in Minority Report. The more Google+ knows, the better tuned the adverts get. I assume the Google Android phones have a Google+ client, and they know where the phone is. So just wait for Google to buy up companies who own the bill boards and turn them all digital...;)
 
It's to early to define what google+ is/will be. But one thing is for certain. They're serious about taking out facebook.
 
To me it's Facebook and Twitter rolled into one with better privacy controls.
 
It's more like Twitter. But you can post text, pictures, videos and URLs.
It's like Flickr. You can upload entire albums, caption photos, tag faces and share.
It's like Windows. You can easily manage user permissions, making certain whatever you post is only shared in "circles" of your choosing.
 
I think the hype for Google+ will die down really quick. There are only so many outlets to a user can turn to for social media, another one will just take more time and effort out of my day.

It's Google's way of gathering your personal info; I guess Facebook wouldn't share with Google.

The cool difference is that you can put those fuckers in one little Circle called SPAM or whatever the hell you want to name it.

It's Twitter with much better contact grouping abilities so you can sort out your family/friends and still get all sorts of crap from celebrates you want to follow.
