Just like the title says, Why has no manufacturer tried to put out a 2gb 6870? They have great scaling in CF. Or even a 6870x2 4gb? Would it just be to expensive and may as well just buy 6950? I still think 6870 2gb for $199 would be good.

Yeah, I was wondering about this the other day... it would be good for my res...

Crossfire! That is where this would be really good. I'm not feeling PowerColor. I'm kinda suprised Sapphire didn't do this.

If the 6950 1GB showed almost not performance loss in any situation from losing a gig of memory what makes you think that it would benefit a 6800 series card? The 5870 didn't gain squat from 2GB and even the 6950 appears to gain almost nothing. That card would have no performance gain ant even an Eyefinity resolution with more memory. PURE MARKETING.

HD6870 gained it in CF setup.... at eyefinity :p Only time HD5870 CF scaled nearly linearly. check anandtech's review of HD5870 eyefinity 6 edition.

I prefer TPU where they have a very nice graph at the end. The 2GB 5870 shows 3% improvement over the 1GB at 2560 which is 2/3 of most Eyefinity setups. The 6950 shows a 0% improvement over the 2GB version at 2560. Unless someone is running three 30" I don't see how either is even an improvement. 2560 shows well what a 3x1080P setup will do. Even Crossfire 6870s are too week for that. If you see a 2GB 6870 it is purely marketing. No performance increase. The only reason to have that much memory is three 2560 monitors which requires two or three 6970 to begin with and those are only available in 2GB models.
