I got an NF7-S...my board needed an upgrade, and I got htis one for the OCing features. Before I got a new heatsink, I wanted to make sure the board would OC my processor without issue. I am running a 2500+, stock speeds, 166x11. I made a simple change to 171x11 to see waht happens, and the board saves the settings and restarts, and 1st off there is no video. Then my computer starts beeping. Its a non stop beep at about a 5 second interval. Resetting the BIOS and retrying didnt fix it...waht do you suppose my problem is?
 
What kind of memory do you have? Give us a short list of the essentials... powersupply, ram and stuff like that.
 
RAM: Creton 512MB and Elixir 512MB PC2700 w/ Blue Heatspreaders
Processor: locked 2500+
PSU: 450W PC Power and Cooling
 
Maybe your RAM can't handle being overclocked at all, try changing the CPU:DRAM divider when raising the FSB...
 
If I recall right the PCI/AGP is locked by default. If that is the case then it is probably your memory.

I think its your memory. Because it is only rated to 166mhz, you aren't guaranteed anything higher
 
yeah I had the same issue on my NF7-S it was my memory as well, but im one of the lucky folks with an unlocked barton 2500+.
 
well.....heres my threory. Stupid me bent a pin installing my processor (im still pissed with myself for it, stupid mistake I shoudlnt have made), it went back to its normal position, and i hate no problems reinstalling the proc, but coudl that physically damage the CPU where it woudlnt OC? It was only one pin, the one in the very bottem left corner.
 
one would think that wouldnt make much of a difference, but with things like that you never know. there may have been more damage than you can see, but I highly doubt that. I would think that if all the pins were in the socket correctly that it would be fine.
 
increase the cpu n memory voltage a bit (try 1.75-1.85v, 2.7-2.9v) n run the memory at slow settings (2.5-4-4-11, 3-4-4-11). try fsb 175, 185, 200. if u have new barton (aqyha or kqyha) it should o/c well, n ur pc2700 should run min 180mhz at slow setting.

the memory settigs are already 2-4-4-11, ill try adjsuting the voltages. Otherwise, is there a way to just overclock the processor fsb without the ram, so i can see if the ram is indeed the issue or not
 
Alter the FSB/MEM divider when you increase the fsb and the cpu fsb will rise but the mem will stay at a lower speed.
 
dude, what about your voltage? you might need more than the standard 1.55
 
standard is 1.65 on a barton. try 1.75 or 1.85 to eliminate that factor (for now) and also raise ram voltage to 2.8. then use 3-4-4-11 ram timings and try raising the fsb again.
 
my bad, im using 3-4-4, hit the wrong key...ill try screwing with my voltages later, and ill post back if it works or not
