Nexus 6 speculation

Did previous LTE phones work with calling over CDMA and data on LTE at the same time? Im curious to why Verizon is still so slow with the VoLTE rollout

All verizon phones with lte except the iphone have supported voice+data at the same time, all have had 2 radios (except the iphone), until now because verizon is transitioning to VoLTE which can do voice and data with one radio.

If I recall correctly... Last 2 android generation ago starting in 2011, many CDMA flagships had SVDO simultaneous voice and data (as in Thunderbolt, Evo LTE, One M7, Galaxy S4, etc). And that's about it for simultaneous voice and data on CDMA's networks. For some strange reason, both Verizon and Sprint disabled that on this generation around even though the Qualcomm simultaneous radios are there still. Verizon and Sprint could simply not care because of the eventual move to VoLTE, or that the Galaxy S4 cost enough headaches on the networks that we don't know off. But before that and now, the only way to get simultaneous voice and data on CDMA is through wifi. My point is that we only had two years of SVDO.

Update: I think I did my math wrong 2013-2011 != 2... Maybe it should be 3, 2014-2011. I think I skipped a whole generation with the GS3 and the One X.

The Qualcomm chip may have it but the external circuitry like amplifiers may not be there to actually use a second radio, kind of like the nexus 4 and its "lte" that was there but wasn't and had no amps and half worked.

I've been able to use voice and (LTE) data simultaneously on all my Verizon LTE phones from the Gnex to my current M8. Since Verizon basically has LTE wherever they have CDMA, it's really a non-issue for me, esp. since I've only used/needed it a handful of times.

I loved when AT&T used to tout this as an additional feature in their commercials, which were usually set indoors at someone's house.. where you would have WiFi anyways.

I just want this damn thing to be released already. My VZW GS4 is having major issues with crashing/rebooting with the new NG6 update. I am going to try and fix it tonight by reverting back to NC5, but I've have about enough of "updates" breaking my fucking phone. I talked to a Verizon rep this morning and apparently Nexus 6 isn't even on their list of upcoming devices (which means no time in the next 21 days unless they just drop it on us without warning for their tech dept)

Seems to be a common issue with the last GS4 update. I noticed people complaining about it in the comments here when it released. My wife's GS4 suffered constant random rebooting too after that update. As stated in the comments there and on the XDA thread someone linked to in it, doing a factory reset fixes it. I think I read on XDA that it only affected rooted phones that took the update. My wife's GS4 was rooted too. There's still a way to root the phone after the update too using Odin, but I haven't tried it yet.

More availability every Wed per Play Store update:

https://play.google.com/store/devices/details/Nexus_6_64GB_Cloud_White?id=nexus_6_white_64gb

We are getting more Nexus 6 devices in stock as soon as possible. To make things simpler for you, we will work to make more devices available each Wednesday and encourage you to visit the site then.

The Nexus 6 will also be available in AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, and U.S. Cellular stores later in November. Please check with your local carrier store for more information.

I was worried the brightness would suck like the Turbo but this gives me a little hope http://youtu.be/7h-R73VTXXQ?t=4m24s

It's decently bright at half brightness in the video...though amoled screens don't change that much in brightness from low-high from my experience.

wonder how verizon is screwing things up now

They will most likely delay it in favor of the droid turbo

Doesn't explain why the Nexus 7 2013 WIFI only hasn't gotten it. They probably just haven't gotten around to publishing the images yet. From past experience they start a rolling OTA update then publish factory images. Instead of waiting for your turn to get the OTA you can just download the factory image, modify the flash-all.bat file and remove '-w' to update without wiping your data/settings/etc.

Still waiting for more stock of douche white Nexus 6 64GB since my page monitor extension hasn't gone off yet. If unsuccessful more reason not to impulse buy and wait for next year's more interesting devices with 14nm, 64-bit, >=4GB DRAM...

I'm looking at a 64GB blue in my cart but keep getting an error when attempting to check out.

Maybe not. Blue 32GB and 64GB keeps popping in and out of inventory but still can't proceed to checkout. Going to keep spamming the 'proceed to checkout' button and hope it doesn't remove from cart again.

Got a 32gb Midnight Blue. No 64gb available.

Got the confirmation email for my order right after.

I had made sure my Google Wallet was setup prior to so that I could add to my cart and then hit pay or buy and it went right through.

Have to wait and see if I keep it or my Oneplus One.

My friend at Google alerted me to the time of the sale that's the only way I got one

I got 64GB Blue ordered. Est delivery is 11/26.

According to someone on XDA who did two orders 2 minutes apart...the invoice numbers jumped by 86 in that amount of time.

Nice! Hopefully amazon offers it soon I called in and asked if there was any eta for them offering the Droid Turbo or Nexus 6 and their database doesn't show anything yet.

Been trying really hard to get a white 64gb one. The excitement is quickly turning into frustration and at this rate I'm considering on giving up and picking one up near Christmas tax free from somewhere.

Maybe Christmas is a little too optimistic...

I was hoping for white at all...I settled for blue 64GB...the blue is growing on me TBH.

That being said Moto put my order on hold...tried to reprocess it...failed...cancelled it automatically...called them back...and their "Cancelled Order Department" is going to review it because a normal CS rep couldn't figure out WTH is wrong with my order.

At this rate I'm just hoping for a Nexus of any sort.

I had a similar experience when I ordered my droid maxx Dev edition from the moto store last year. I refuse to order from them again because of it.

Marques Brownlee, last night on Twitter wrote "Typical day with Nexus 6 so far. 4 hrs screen on time. Not the best, but beats any other QHD phone".

However, consider this. He continued to write, "Manual max brightness and plenty of LTE".

But MKBHD also tweeted in a response after that:

"Beats G3, Note 4, S5 Prime and ties Turbo for my usage".

He said he never gets more than 4 hours SOT with any of his phones.

Returned my note 4, can't wait til Wednesday when T-Mobile will have these in stock

Anyone know if the nexus 6s sold by carriers is the same as the one from the play store?

Rumor has it "stock" will be tiny at major Tmo stores...and perhaps non-existent at small ones.

Believing that you intended to further extend my positive spin, I assume you meant to type "And MKBHD also tweeted..."
For sure, I am encouraged by his findings.

I know where their main corporate store in my area is, I usually have good luck with new releases, plus I can be there when they open Wednesday :)

Yes I did intend to put a positive spin on your statement.

Phonearena had a battery test posted shortly before they had to or were told to take it down and the Nexus 6 did very well.

http://forums.androidcentral.com/go...onearenas-battery-life-results-nexus-6-a.html

7 HR 53 min based on their testing setup

OnePlus One was 8 HR 5 min when Phonearena tested it so if that holds true I will be very happy with the Nexus 6 battery life as I get over 6 hours screen on time with my Oneplus One.

Very nice Radeon, thanks. One more user corroborates good battery life.
