ok I simply need more fps. I get 60 fps in counter stike with my 8600GTS overclocked to 777MHz core and 1100MHz fsb with 2600 Pci bus. (22" Dell wide screen)

Now my question is. Should I get another 8600 for 150 bucks and and run sli + 2 GB more of the ballistix DDR2 800 i currently have, or should I trade my card in and get an 8800GTX?

No SLI. It's a bit of a waste. I say that you wait till November to see what ATI and Nvidia have for the $200 - $250 price segment. Those newer cards might outperform two 8600GTS SLI (well they better do anyway) for not much more in price. Then you can sell off the 8600GTS to help offset the cost of the newer card.
 
If game on a 22" and only play source based games, a 8800gts 320mb will be all that you ever need. But with the rumored 8800gt here in 3 weeks, I would wait to see what shows up first though.

As for system memory, if your running a 32bit windows, another 2gb is not do much if anything for you. But it would be good if you see yourself upgrading to 64bit Vista or XP soon.

Makes a lot of sense. I heard good things about sli so i thought i'd work for me...

hmm. I think i might just buy an 8800GTX.

Oh and also unreal 3 lags pretty damn good :(
 
60FPS isn't enough :confused: If you want more, I suggest that you get an 8800GTS, or an HD2900 pro.

I get 127.7 FPS in The Lost Coast at 1600x1200 4XAA, 8xAF and the rest maxed.
 
Or you could just turn off Vsync...

Your setup should break 100FPS easily with absolute max settings in CS.
 
with all setting turned down the fps doesn't change. May be I am monitoring it wrong. I just type "net graph 1" in console.:confused:

What do you guys do to monitor fps?

With vertical sync on you cannot go any faster than your refresh rate so until you shut it off you will be capped at 60FPS.
