news.com intel article shameless amd plug.

I must be reading a different article, because I don't see any thrashing of Intel. I see the author mention that AMD has been doing it for a while, and he/she falsely claims the rating is what it's "performance" is equal too...which we all know thanks to the C class P4s is totally worthless. It's not a bad idea for Intel, because it isn't giving it a bullshit random number that leads people to think they are buying something faster than it is. AMD should have learned from the class action lawsuits against it.

Didn't really see the "thrashing."

I can see where Intel's coming from, it's a pain to explain that the centrino's are faster, even though the Mhz number is much lower than the P4s. The only thing is, now there are even more arbitrary numbers to remember.

 So AMD's rating system is bullshit in your opinion? I would like to know how you think it's misleading or making false claims.

Nonetheless, I would like to see AMD using model numbers for all of its processors, not just the Opteron and Athlon 64 FX series. It doesn't bother me personally, though. It's not like I assume a certain performance level by looking at the QuantiSpeed rating.

i believe the lawsuits were against INTEL for the lack of performance of the P4, not towards amd, despite the fact that the judge ruled for intel.

as far as i know, with the K8 series, amd has been quite conservative in their model ratings. and scaling of the k8 is simply very good.

i see no bashing of intel.
